Overall we loved our experience mainly just because being in that type of setting in the caves with that beauty, is just amazing. I recommend this if you love the idea of seeing Petra and being outdoors with great views and are okay with not getting a ton of Bedouin culture experience. One great thing is they will give you tons of delicious bedouin tea. You may need to ask for water. Feras and his wife Natalie were a bit busy while we were there. Things come up. We spent some time with them, but not as much as you would think (none our 2nd night). Feras was pretty busy so you do not get time like you expect. We wanted more of the bedouin culture as promised, but we made the most of it and truly enjoyed ourselves. We were able to experience a part of the culture on our own since we were there on our own most of the time. It is a really cool experience and the rock bed is so neat! There are animals around which is great! If you love petra, you will really experience it here and even climb to their cave! It is an unforgettable experience! The food was good, but we were promised mansaf instead of maqluba since we had already had that. We did not get mansaf. They just got busy and were not very present. They are running so many tours all the time. Also, it is very overpriced and the extra tours they offer are well over the price of what you can get elsewhere so I definitely would say try to find someone else for extra tours. However, it is still worth it, because the experience is great! You dont need a toilet since you are in a cave, but they have one anyway! It is simply beautiful and special! Just know that there is a chance you wont see much of the culture or much of Feras.
One of the best experiences we had in Jordan! The only structure inside Petra where it is possible to sleep and have a real Bedouin experience with Feras family. Sari, Feras' brother, welcomed us with warmth and affection: we found a friend with whom we spent a wonderful evening! Feras wife is an amazing cook who made us the best meals eaten in Jordan! The only regret is not having visited Petra and having done extra activities with them, certainly our experience would have been even more gratifying.
Amazing experience. Your will walk, eat & sleep among the locals who are some of the best people you'll ever met.
Thank you so much!! Was so wonderful to have you and you are welcome back always!
Sleep inside a UNESCO world heritage site / anciet city underneath 5 million stars ! Amazing hospitality from hosts . *has new and very clean bathroom which is a huge plus *
Thanks girl! Was so amazing having you and hanging out. I hope you come back one day and stay in touch. ♥️♥️
I stayed with a couple of friends for a night in the cave and had the BEST time! We had an incredible private tour of Petra and the Treasury, rode camels and the mules to the monastery, and had an amazing lunch with Natalie and Feras. It is such a surreal moment to sit around the fire at night and talk, while looking up at the stars. It’s truly a once in a lifetime experience to be able to stay after hours in one of the wonders of the world. They are wonderful hosts and the cave has all of the comforts of home, including a bathroom. I would highly recommend it, and would love to come back again!
Thank you for such kind words. It was so nice to meet you! We had a wonderful time with you and really hope you come back to see us again some day. ♥️♥️
Amazing experience, don’t hesitate, comfortable, friendly, super warm (electricity and Wi-Fi), but with all the Bedouins magic.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We look forward to hosting you again one day. You and your family are always welcome.
The days we have in Petra were fabulous. We really enjoyed the "Grotte d'Indiana Jones" for a real immersion in Bedouin's life. Thank you for the kind hospitality and the foods were excellent. It is really a place to stay to learn more about the local life. All the family had a wonderful time there
So happy to hear of your wonderful experience. You are welcome back to stay with us again anytime you like! Safe travels for you and your family.
Thank you so much to Firas and his family for making our stay in Petra unforgettable. Everything was amazing, the food was the best that we ever had and the welcoming the warmest. The cave’s location is perfect to visit Petra, and it is very comfortable. Spending the night there was an experience on its own. We can’t wait to go back again if we have a chance. I highly recommend staying with Firas for a romantic getaway, or even a family one. Thank you so much again!!!!
Thank you for such kind words. This means a lot to us. So happy to hear you had such a great experience with Feras and enjoyed the food and view! You are welcome to stay again any time in our cave. -Natalie
The cave is located in the wonderful archeological city of Petra. The view from the cave is beautiful and you can take wonderful photos. The cave is fully equipped, sanitary ware, beds, blankets are available and is very clean. Do not hesitate to try the dinner in the cave cooked by the host. Jordanian cuisine will fascinate you. The host will provide you with all the information you need and will give you a wonderful tour and route to the archeological city of Petra. In addition, staying in the cave you will experience the Bedouin way of life which is something amazing .. It is an experience that will be unforgettable and I highly recommend it.
Thank you for the lovely review. It will always be a pleasure to have you visit us in the cave.
As a rural accomodation, you have to put up with a few things; if you ask for a toilet you are said to do "in the wild". More annoying the insistence on additional services; how many time do I have to tell that I don't want to go on a donkey ? In the end I accepted to be escorted on shortcut to a viewing point, accessible only "with a guide" for 20 JOD. It was not a shortcut, as I walk past the ordinary access point to take it. And of course there was no indication that a guide was required.
Hello Loris, When did you actually stay in the cave because I do not show anyone named Loris in any of the bookings of the cave. Any sites where you would have been able to book clearly state that it is a cave and therefore does not currently have toilet facilities (they are being built this year) and that you have to use nature so if you read about it before booking, this would have been clear in advance. It was not meant to be offensive to tell you "in the wild" however this it the experience you booked. If there is no toilet, then "in the wild" is just a fact, not meant to be a rude comment. Also, the viewpoints at the treasury, you do in fact need to go with a guide as they can be unsafe with falling rocks and the Bedouins fought very hard to be able to keep these even open to the public at all and accessible to tourists which is advantage for people who want to be able to enjoy them. Depending on the "Ordinary Access point" that you are talking about, it might have had a longer trail from the access point to the actual viewpoint. Booking the cave is an outdoor/rural experience/adventure as you stated. It's a cave. This adds to the local cultural experience to see how the local Bedouins live and many people enjoy this type of experience. For those who don't, there are 5 star resorts with toilets and amenities that might be more suited for those who need them in Petra that can be used as well. Sorry your experience was not up to your expectations when booking the cave. I hope that you still were able to find enjoyment in your trip.
