We visited many parts of Hilo and the national park during the well-organized trip. Chris was a friendly and informative tour driver. We rode in a minibus, not a large motor coach. So, after each stop, we did not have to wait a long time for all passengers to return to the bus. The length of the trip was just right.
Aloha NC Family Traveler, Mahalo for sharing you wonderful experience with us. Yes, using a mini-bus for this tour has it's advantages. Aloha,
Cousin Lisa was delightful. She was so knowledgeable and fun. When our tour bus air conditioner wasn’t working well, she arranged for a replacement bus at our first stop.
Aloha Debbie, Mahalo for your excellent review and compliments. Lisa enjoy' s sharing her knowledge and the aloha spirit. Mahalo,
Poor communication and mediocre service. All the other experiences we booked contacted us ahead with what to expect, where to meet, etc. This tour was about $150 a person, and we had 4 people in our group. They literally took us around to the Rainbow falls and up to the volcano, etc with no water. Literally, every other tour had water and small snacks up to full meals included. For the price, this was at best a moderate value. We stopped at the hotel at Volcanoes and could buy a drink there, but the line was really long. The tour started off poor, as we didn't know where to meet them and what sign to look for. Literally, other tour directors helped us figure out which group we were with. If you see Roberts Tours, please consider looking for a different tour.
Aloha Joanne, I'm sorry we didn't meet your expectations.. We appreciate your review and are taking messages to improve the tours experience. Mahalo,
We had an amazing day! Chris is an excellent tour guide. His knowledge of Hawaii is exceptional. The falls were beautiful, although they were not running at full capacity because it is the dry season. Chris shared a photo taken when they were at full force. Beautiful! We missed the volcanic eruption by a few days, there was plenty of steam though. It was an amazing sight. We also went through the lava tubes. That was awesome. It is a bit challenging for the elder set, but well worth the experience. We Also stopped at a nice gift shop and candy store! Such a fun day.
Aloha Pego, Mahalo for your excellent review and sharing your experience. Exploring the Lava tubes are amazing. Aloha,
Was a great time and got to see a lot of interesting things. The volcano was erupting so it made it an extra bonus
Aloha Janice, Yes, it's about timing when the volcano is active or not. Mahalo for your review. Enjoy the rest of your cruise. Aloha,
We booked this tour through Viator and boarded the same bus as those who booked the Hilo tour NCL. Our tour guide was awesome - stopped at numerous places for photo ops, and providing us with loads of info about Hilo. He even offered to takes photos for everyone. Loved seeing Rainbow Falls the volcano park anc other spots along the way. Would recommend this tour to all cruisers. You will enjoy it!!
Aloha Sherry, Mahalo for your excellent review and recommendation. Enjoy your cruise throughout the islands. Aloha
Dezzy and Chris were great! I really enjoyed the tour!! I wish there was more time in the volcanoes national park but overall this was a good snip of Hilo.
Aloha Lindsay, Mahalo for your excellent review. Enjoy the rest of your Cruise and we hope to see on one of our other tours. George
A wonderful tour of the Volcanoes National Park. Our guide and driver, Grover, was fantastic. He provided a wealth of information about the island and its history, culture and environment. We viewed all the sites we had hoped to see, including the steam vents, volcano crater from several lookout points, the Volcano House and walked through the Thurston Lava Tube, We visited Rainbow Falls, and drove through the beautiful gardens in Hilo and our final stop was to taste delicious shortbread cookies and Kona coffee. Grover really made this a great outing from our cruise ship.
Initially we were misdirected by Roberts Hawaii Host. Once on the bus things began to level out. Saga began with the bus breaking down after the mechanic came & restated the obvious a replacement was sent. The A/C made lots of noise but no cold air. Road construction delays added to the time we lost. Trying to be understanding we rallied our spirits & was informed we weren't going to the lava tube or blacksand beach but would be stopping at a candy store. We had plenty of time to see those things but the driver had a doctors appt he couldn't miss. While I realize these things were unavoidable a driver who could have finished our tour would have been much appreciated. I am asking Roberts Hawaii to offer at least a partial refund. $154 to ride in an oven to Volcano National Park & back seems extreme
Aloha Jenny, Thank you for your review. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Can you please email me at sightnsea@robertshawaii.com. I don't show a Jenny H on our manifest. I would like to review what happened. Mahalo,
The driver was very informative and did a great job. The first bus we were on broke down (this happens) but the second bus was constantly having trouble. The check engine light and engine temperature light kept coming on. The air conditioner was not working well on the bus so it was very hot. The replacement bus seemed to be falling apart and the air conditioner filter screens were plugged. We were so excited about this tour but mechanical mishaps put a damper on the day. I felt bad for the driver having to make apologies.
Aloha Twyla, We appreciate all reviews. Thank you for sharing your unfortunate situation. Please email me at sightnsea@Robertshawaii.com. I would like to investigate this future. Mahalo,
