Jen was awesome! Information packed tour - I swear Jen never took a breath, which made the tour very fun and very interesting. I never been to the Galveston County Museum, and that was very cool. The walk around the Strand (which we’ve been to often) was very informative - hearing the stories behind the buildings that survived was great. I won’t walk down the Strand again without remembering those buildings and stories.
Our guide is a great historian and shared a wide variety of stories. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
Thank you so much for your kind review!
This tour starts in a museum for the hurricane of 1900 and then you take a walk around town to see spectacular buildings and hear stories of what happened that day… There is sadness but miracle stories as well!
This was a fantastic tour! We learned so much and heard so many stories. The walking tour gave such insight to exactly how the island was affected. Our guide was engaging and so knowledgeable about the storm and also the history of the island. We really enjoyed it!
The tour included many fascinating details and stories about the 1900 storm of Galveston. Gin was very knowledgeable and presented well. This tour is worthwhile for the curious.

Thank you so much!
Our guide was a walking encyclopedia. Her excitement was contagious. Down to earth and we just loved her stories about the people that survived. Michael and Niki
Thank you very much for your review! I am glad you enjoyed the tour! Gin
Gin, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable of many facets of the great storm of 1900 and was very personable. She made the events come to life and sprinkled in many personal islanders and Galveston island visitors experiences during the storm. I highly recommend this tour!
Thank you so much for your kind review!
We sure enjoyed our morning spending time with Jen, our tour guide. She was a great ambassador for Galveston. The mix between the museum & walking tour was just right. Very informative. We left with a sense of the tremendous loss, but also a feel for the persistence of the people of Galveston to bounce back. Highly recommend this tour.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the tour! Gin
I was warned well ahead of time that Galveston would be underwhelming. That would have certainly been true... if it were not for this incredible tour, which remains one of the most impressive tours I have ever taken in my life, anywhere or on any subject. If you're lucky, you'll get Gin as your tour guide, who will make your head explode with poignant, human stories from the great storm of 1900 - it's not just an hour-and-a-half of facts thrown at you. Corny as it sounds, I actually found my heart racing as she recounted some of the harrowing things that happened exactly where we stood. Galveston's "Storm Survivor" markers strewn around the north end of the island make for a fun scavenger hunt, especially if you're dragging kids along and need to keep them occupied. In getting to know about the great storm of 1900, you get to know Galveston as a whole, and leave feeling oddly connected to the town. I will assume that very few of you read that whole block of text up there, so TL;DR - I highly recommend the Great Storm Hurrican Talk & Tour at the Galveston County Museum. You don't have to be a history buff to be jaw-dropped by the experience.
Thank you so much! It was great to meet you and your family! I am glad you enjoyed the tour! -Gin
