Un recorrido gratificante de medio día por hermosos paisajes, encantadores pueblos pequeños y el histórico Stirling. Un tour de 8 horas que le da mucho tiempo fuera en el aire escocés. Este tour compacto que viaja por la zona al norte de Glasgow visita el castillo de Stirling, el monumento a The Wallace, el castillo de Dumbarton y Luss en el lago Lomond. El recorrido dura un total de 5 horas 50 minutos en paradas, con un total de 2 horas 10 minutos en coche.

Salga de Glasgow y diríjase hacia el oeste hacia el lago Lomond, la primera parada de nuestro recorrido es el castillo de Dumbarton, que tiene la historia más antigua registrada de cualquier fortaleza escocesa, que se remonta al siglo V cuando San Patricio envió una carta al rey Ceretic, fue la primera carta escrita sobre un asentamiento allí. Desde entonces han estado aquí los Reyes Vikingos, William Wallace, María Reina de Escocia y la Reina Isabel 2.
Saliendo de Dumbarton, es un corto trayecto en coche hasta su primera vista de ‘The Bonnie, Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond’. Esas palabras son de la canción escocesa “You take the High Road and I'll take the Low Road”. Loch Lomond tiene la mayor superficie de cualquier lago en el continente británico, tiene más de 23 millas de largo. Apenas 10 minutos más tarde nos detendremos en Luss, uno de los pueblos más populares de Escocia para visitar, Caminar más allá de las bonitas casas de piedra arenisca y pizarra al muelle para disfrutar de maravillosas vistas hacia arriba y hacia abajo del lago Lomond y a través del lago a las montañas. Desde el muelle es un paseo muy corto hasta el cementerio de la iglesia atmosférica, que tiene tumbas que datan de 600 d.C. / 700 d.C. con una piedra de tumba vikinga también.
Nuestra ruta a Stirling desde el lago Lomond es especialmente pintoresca, con bonitos pueblos, magníficas vistas y una parada opcional en Glengoyne Distillery, disponible si así lo desea. Solo una parada rápida para ver los edificios pintorescos, la tienda y el patio lleno de barriles de whisky.
Aproximándose a Stirling desde el oeste, el castillo y el monumento a Wallace son visibles desde bastante distancia. El castillo de Stirling es uno de los castillos más grandes e importantes de Escocia, histórica y arquitectónicamente. El castillo se encuentra en lo alto de un afloramiento volcánico, custodiando el punto de cruce más bajo del río Forth. Hay mucho que descubrir y disfrutar en el castillo.
A solo 8 minutos en coche del Castillo, este emblemático monumento mide 220 pies de altura y se encuentra en la cima de la colina de la Abadía Craig sobre los campos, donde en 1297 Wallace llevó a sus tropas a la victoria en la Batalla del Puente de Stirling. Hay 276 escalones hasta la cima. Un corto trayecto en coche desde el monumento Wallace nos lleva a Stirling Bridge. El actual puente Stirling fue construido en el siglo XIV reemplazando una sucesión de puentes de madera. En 1297 William Wallace derrotó a las fuerzas de Eduardo 1 en la Batalla de Stirling Bridge. Hoy en día el puente es uno de los mejores puentes de arco de mampostería medieval de Escocia.
Una visita a Bannockburn, donde, en 1314, el rey Roberto el Bruce y su ejército ganaron la batalla más famosa de la historia de Escocia. Un corto paseo a la estatua del rey Robert The Bruce con el castillo de Stirling como telón de fondo vale la pena. También hay una experiencia de visitante con una tarifa de entrada. Mike is a fabulous tour guide as well as a driver. Van was new comfortable and Mike himself was accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable and lots of fun. The tour was amazing, every stop full of historical information and terrific photo opportunities. My family of six enjoyed every minute of this tour. Hire Mike you will be very glad you did.

Mike was an awesome tour guide and driver. He knew all the best places to take us and had a wealth of interesting information. We all really enjoyed our tour with him. Mike picked us up at our hotel and spent the full day taking us around the area. We made a stop at the Drymen bakery and deli it was excellent. The village of Luss was nice and we ended up having a great chat with the Minister at the Kirk. Mike was a great guide, knowledgeable and friendly.
Mike gave us a fabulous tour of Glasgow and the surrounding area. The Glasgow Cathedral was stunning, with beautiful stained glass and gothic architecture. The Necropolis had breathtaking views of the city. We saw Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument, beautiful Loch Lomond and fabulous gardens. Mike is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area and is quite personable. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with him and learned a lot about Scotland in the process. Best guide we've ever had.
5⭐️ Mike from Private Scottish Tours is a fantastic guide. He provides so much local and historical knowledge of not only Glasgow but of Scotland too. We travelled in his extremely comfortable van to amazing places and we felt like we stepped back in time. Breathtaking Cathedrals, Century old graves, spectacular Castles and stunning countryside. The tour was simply amazing. Mike our tour guide reached out to us well ahead of our tour and asked if there was anything special we would like to include in our tour. I mentioned that I was interested in seeing the area near Loch Lomond of the Buchanan clan which is my mother’s family name. He was prepared! He took us to see so many areas and knew so much of the history. He also took us into the highlands and some of the most amazing views. Lunch at Loch Fyne, the fresh oysters and local Fyne Ale was the icing on the cake. I would absolutely recommend this tour.

Mike was an excellent tour guide. We were only in the area for the day, and he made sure we packed as much in as we could. Whether in city or countryside, Mike was able to provide history from Vikings to movie shoots. His local passion for this beautiful region really shows, and the hole in the wall fish and chips spot on the fjord was the best we had in the UK to top it off!
