Great tour with a very knowledgeable guide (sorry didn’t write down her name). Nice bus ride to the town where the boat took us to Portofino. Beautiful town high off the water. Well worth exploring!
Portofino was unbelievably beautiful! There was really no tour or direction given, just time on our own to explore.
Fantastic experience. The right amount of time in each stop. Our guide was so helpful, and took the time to explain and guide us on each stop.
Love the tour. Great information shared on the history of the city and villages. Love the free time to explore too
Our guide Kami was very knowledgeable and entertaining! Focaccia is delicious and if you want to enjoy Portofino and the beautiful city of Genoa without hassles and with all the explanations of a local guide! LOVE IT
THE MOST AMAZING TOUR EVER! The guide Cami (like me) was the absolute best! The driver Andrea was awsome! A MUST TO DO Focaccia is soooo good
The tour guide was very friendly me really liked her when we could understand her. But she didn’t have great english language skills. The audio boxes that they gave us had extremely poor range so most of time unless you were right next to your guide you got nothing but static. And with such a large group (don’t be fooled by the word private in the description) Ian’s huge crowds to maneuver through it was almost impossible to stay close to her. Also , he boat they used wasn’t large enough to fit entire group so they brought in a smaller dingy thing to run along side us. It was bizarre and not well managed. Portofino is lovely. Genoa isn’t really worth spending anytime in at all, if your coming off a cruise ship spend your short time on other things.
Dear Rebecca, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We would like to clarify a few important points regarding your tour to ensure future travelers have an accurate understanding of our services. First, regarding the language barrier, all of our tour leaders are licensed, professional English-speaking guides. While some guides may have a more pronounced accent than others, this is natural for international guides and does not mean they lack the language skills required to lead a tour effectively. Second, regarding the word "private" in our description, it is clearly associated with the boat cruise to Portofino, meaning it is a private boat reserved exclusively for our group, rather than a public ferry. When a group is large, safety regulations and capacity limits require us to deploy additional watercraft to support the main boat. There is nothing bizarre about this; it is standard maritime logistical procedure to ensure everyone is transported safely and comfortably. You mentioned it was not well-managed, but without specific examples of what went wrong, we cannot look into your claim further. Lastly, regarding Genoa, it is a magnificent historical city that is highly praised by the vast majority of our guests. However, we completely understand that travel preferences are highly subjective and that every traveler has their own personal tastes. We appreciate your feedback and are glad you found Portofino lovely. Best regards, Davide
It was an excellent tour. The tour was very knowledgeable and passionate, it was on time to begin and back to the cruise on time. It is best for a cruise excursion tourists. Save us hassle and see the most .
Our Guide - “The girl with the blue hair” was super. After the bus ride over to Rapello things were a bit hectic. Apparently the seas were rough that day and so we weren’t able to take the smaller, private boat ride to Portofino as planned. It worked out ok, but wasn’t ideal and some got wet on the ride over as it started raining. Once we got to Portofino our guide gave us instructions and then offered to do a walking tour with anyone interested or we were free to enjoy free time. We did both! We had time to grab some fresh pasta and a bottle of wine, and do some shopping. The ride back to Rapello to grab our bus was less hectic. Genoa was easily walkable and again our guide offered to give us a walking tour or we had free time. We decided to walk around on our own and had no trouble finding delicious gelato and getting back to port by foot.
Chiara and Andrea have been very kind, an excellent tour, a lovely experience
