La Capilla Sixtina debe su nombre a su cliente, el Papa Sixto IV della Rovere (1471-1484), que quiso construir una nueva gran sala en el lugar donde ya se encontraba la "Capilla Magna", una sala fortificada de la Edad Media, destinada para albergar las reuniones de la corte papal.

Viator sent confirmation of tour meeting point and time but upon arrival the operator had no record of our booking. Viator provided the wrong address. Contacted the operator by telephone and was directed to a new address but upon arrival was told the tour was rescheduled to later in the day. When I contacted Viator seeking refund my request was denied. Viator indicated I was at fault and that the operator could not contact me although I provided my email and mobile to Viator. Viator screws up but blames the customer. Last time I book with them.

Booked 10:30am tour for four people. Emailed day before that time changed to 11am. Showed 10:45am and told 11:30am (unapologetically). Tour finally began around 12:15pm. Others people who had booked 8am tour were treated similarly. We missed our lunch reservations due to the multiple delays. Tour guide was disinterested and rushed through tour. My advice: skip this tour and try another or self tour; but don’t skip seeing the Vatican!

Visiting the Vatican was a must do on our travel list. This tour includes a skip the line and I highly recommend that. Walking past the hundreds of people sitting in the heat for a chance to go in was well worth every penny. I believe the tour guide is a guide chosen by the Vatican and not the tour company. He spoke very fast and had an accent that at times was hard to follow. With that we still caught on to what was being said and were truly amazed by the history all around us.

Paolo was very knowledgeable of the history and biblical references. He was a fabulous tour guide. Our only issue is that the time of the tour is not actually the real starting time of the tour. We booked a 9:30 time and it got changed to 11:30 due to being overbooked. It was stressful for us. The tour was at 11:30 but it took over an hour just to get inside the Vatican. We needed up having to leave our group and go ahead into Sistine Chapel for 4 mins and then hustle to get to cruise ship. So we spent almost $700 to spend 4 mins or less in Sistine Chapel. That was disappointing.

Our tour guide René was exceptional. She was very thorough and knowledgeable. Even though there was a lot of walking and it was hot, René made the whole experience interesting.
