El origen del palacio se debió a la necesidad de un lugar que reuniese todas las comodidades de la época para el emperador y su familia, a diferencia del Alcázar, y que estuviera situado junto a la Alhambra. La construcción del palacio comenzó en 1527 y finalizó en su totalidad en 1957.
La residencia habitual de los reyes de Granada, su construcción comenzó a principios del siglo XIV. Los Palacios Nazaríes son un complejo palaciego formado por tres edificios: - El Mexuar es el salón más antiguo. Fue empleado para reuniones entre los ministros del rey y como sala de audiencias. - Luego, llegamos al Palacio de Comares, que se remonta a la era de Yusuf I. Esta vivienda se erigió alrededor del Patio de los Arrayanes (Patio de los Arrayanes), y sus salidas laterales conducen a la Sala de los Embajadores ( Salón de Embajadores) y la Sala de la Barca. El Salón de Embajadores se encuentra dentro de la Torre de Comares. - El Palacio de los Leones, que data de la época de Muhammed V, es también una residencia real. Se compone de un patio central, el Patio de los Leones, y salas a cada lado, el Salón de los Mocarabes, el Salón de los Reyes, el Salón de las Dos Hermanas, el Salón de los Ajimeces, que conduce al mirador. Mirador de Daraxa, y el Salón de los Abencerrajes, junto con el Harem.
Más allá de los muros de la Alhambra, en una montaña llamada Cerro del Sol, se encuentra el Generalife, una finca rural perteneciente a los sultanes nazaríes que también se utilizaba para la producción agrícola. We had three wonderful hours of enjoying one of the most amazing sites in the world. Get on your walking shoes and be ready to climb many many stairs to view the beauty of the buildings, the rose gardens in bloom right now in May 2026. The Alhambra is like going back in time to Another culture. The beauty of the architectural and the carvings which make it so, are beyond description. You just have to go there to see it for yourself. Our guide was so knowledgeable. You can tell they have to study for years so they can share so much history with us.
