La Alhambra, ubicada en el cerro Sabica, es una ciudad palatina andaluza. Su nombre proviene del color rojizo de sus paredes, que proviene de la arcilla de la tierra misma (Al-Hamra en árabe). Está formado por un grupo de palacios, jardines y fortaleza donde había una ciudadela dentro de la ciudad de Granada, su función principal era servir de alojamiento para el monarca y la corte del reino nazarí de Granada. También hay asentamientos cristianos, como el palacio de Carlos V y la iglesia de Santa María, construida sobre la antigua mezquita. Es uno de los monumentos más visitados de España y fue declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad en 1984. Disfruta de la visita con un guía oficial.
La Alcazaba es la parte más antigua de la Alhambra, del árabe: القصبة al-qaṣbah (ciudadela) era un recinto fortificado de carácter urbano, cuya función era servir como residencia real de Mohamed I hasta que los Palacios estuvieran terminados, de ahí su función. era puramente militar.
Los Palacios Nazaríes, son un complejo palaciego de la Alhambra de Granada formado por dos palacios independientes, el Palacio de Comares y el Palacio de los Leones, y anexos, Mexuar, su construcción data del primer tercio del siglo XIV. El Alcázar o "Qasr al-Sultán" era el área del palacio de la Alhambra, el núcleo del reino nazarí. En esta área residían los sultanes, además de recibir una audiencia, desacreditar los asuntos del gobierno o administrar la administración de la corte.
El palacio de Carlos V es una construcción renacentista del arquitecto Pedro Machuca. El palacio es único en su estilo, formando una plaza con un patio circular inscrito en su interior. Es la obra más destacada del Renacimiento español.
El Generalife es la villa con jardines utilizados por los reyes musulmanes de Granada como lugar de retiro y descanso. Fue concebido como una villa rural, donde se integraron jardines ornamentales, huertos y arquitectura en las cercanías de la Alhambra. El nombre que le damos al complejo Generalife significa literalmente Yannat al-Arif: "El jardín del arquitecto", una alusión a los jardines y huertos que suministraban frutas y verduras a la corte nazarí. Sin embargo, el palacio al que nos dirigimos, diseñado como un lugar de descanso para el monarca, era lo que el poeta Ibn al-Jayyab llamó "la casa real de la felicidad".
El Partal integra restos arqueológicos y arquitectónicos correspondientes a salas palatinas. Su nombre en árabe significa pórtico, y se refiere a los restos de la residencia del sultán Muhammad III, el más septentrional y antiguo. En estos jardines, se pueden ver los restos de varios palacios, ya que esta zona estaba habitada por la nobleza musulmana. El más importante fue el Palacio de Yusuf III, con un plano similar al Palacio de Comares, tristemente demolido en el siglo XVIII. Los Jardines Parciales son un lugar increíble para pasear o detenerse durante su visita a la Alhambra de Granada.

We expected more structure, details and interesting facts during this tour. The information was presented in a kind of semi random fashion. No supplemental materials (maps, floor plans, timeline diagrams were used). The guide was pretty unenthusiastic and just led us trhough Generalife, palaces and fortress with ability to take quick selfies. We expected much more especially after our free walking tour of the city that has offered all of the above.

Take a local bus from Granada town to the meeting point. Alhambra is on the top of the hill and the route is really steep. Nasrid palace is absolute gem so book it with the tour. Wear comfortable shoes as the tour lasts 3 hours.

I wish to warn all travelers about this agency. Their website is structured to appear among the top results on search engines, misleading users and effectively posing as the official channel. I purchased tickets for the Alhambra only to discover afterward that the price they charged is four times higher than the actual cost from the official vendor (Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife). Once on site, speaking with the staff at the official ticket office, I confirmed that I am not at all the first to fall into this trap and that the situation is unfortunately well known to everyone locally. I find it scandalous that these platforms are allowed to profit in this way by speculating on tourists' misinformation. If you want to visit the Alhambra, make sure to purchase only and exclusively from the official website of the Patronato to avoid this enormous unjustified extra expense. Stay away from it.

Not for people with walking disability. The organization is poor. Backwards and forwards. People sending you one way and then another. Not very friendly or helpful staff either. Poor signage when we saw any. Sandra, our guide was excellent
