Though our guide was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and helpful, for what we paid for this tour the places we visited were somewhat disappointing. Patriarche was especially disappointing. We were able to get some time in both the Cote de Beune and Cote de Nuits, but we didn’t get a chance to try the wines that I was hoping for. It’s not like we can afford Grand Crus, but in subsequent talks with others it sounds like we could have done significantly better. It felt like Tasty Lyon is still learning how to put together this tour and I expect they will learn from our tour, but it bothers me that they will have learned at our expense. We would have had additional tour options leaving from Beune instead of Lyon, but we didn’t understand that until we were in the area. The amount of driving time getting to Burgundy and back (4-5 hours) would have cut into the time for any tour.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We’re glad your guide was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and helpful, but we’re sorry the day did not fully match the Burgundy experience you had in mind. As this tour starts from Lyon, the journey to and from Burgundy is naturally an important part of the day, and we understand that this may not have been the best fit for what you were hoping to explore. We appreciate your comments and will keep them in mind with the team. The Tasty Lyon Team
We traveled to Lyon with our adult children and wanted to see Beaune and go wine tasting in Burgundy. We were fortunate to get a private tour in a small van. Raphaelle was a friendly and knowledgeable guide who spoke perfect English. She picked us up in the morning at our hotel, and first took us to a beautiful winery in the countryside. Then we went to the town of Beaune and had 2 hours to walk around and get lunch. She suggested a restaurant that had very good regional fare. The town was very picturesque. Then she took us to a winery right in Beaune, with a massive cellar system under the town. Finally we went to a third winery in another quaint village. We enjoyed the wines at all three wineries, and learned a lot about French wines. We loved getting to see the terrain and villages of Burgundy. It was also nice to talk to Raphaelle and the winery staff about French wines and France. All in all, a very enjoyable day and one of our favorite experiences of our week in France.
