We had a wonderful time with Mayura! She is an excellent guide and brought us to some truly incredible restaurants!!! I am still thinking about the biggest shrimp I’ve ever eaten in my life (it was SO good)! She took lots of great pictures and taught us a ton about Osaka. She helped us feel much better about getting around too! TAKE THIS TOUR!!!!
We’re thrilled to hear that you had such a fantastic time with Mayura and that she introduced you to incredible food, helped you feel confident getting around Osaka, and captured great memories along the way. Your enthusiasm truly comes through, and we’ll be sure to pass your kind words on to her.
It was just before 3:00 p.m. when we met in front of an unassuming little shop and quickly fell into conversation. What struck me right away was how open-minded, friendly, and flexible my guide was, especially when I mentioned that I had already seen much of Osaka. After a short moment of consideration, we set off together. We first strolled through a small market area where everyday goods were being sold. I shared my fascination for Japanese knives and swords, and she immediately suggested visiting a local master knife maker and his shop. After finishing at the market, that’s exactly where we went. The knife shop was just a stone’s throw from Osaka Tower. From the outside it looked modest, but as soon as we stepped in, it became clear that this was a high-end specialty store with a beautiful selection of excellent pieces displayed in glass cases. I was warmly welcomed and received excellent advice. To my pleasant surprise, my guide knew the saleswoman personally, which instantly created a friendly and familiar atmosphere. As it turned out, I would return the next day to purchase one of these finely crafted kitchen knives as a souvenir to take back home to Germany :). After this stop, we took a short walk along the busy tourist street around the tower, where I had the chance to try one of Osaka’s local specialties. Soon after, we ended up in a cozy little bar where a group of locals was enjoying karaoke. My guide and I were quickly drawn into the fun and had a wonderful time singing and laughing together with them. A few small glasses of sake later, it was already time for the next highlight: a traditional Japanese seafood restaurant where the dishes were grilled live and then served with a paddle. We were lucky to get a seat at this very popular spot, and the food was simply outstanding. To conclude the tour, she took me to a small hidden shrine tucked away in the back alleys of Dōtonbori, where the local priest even invited us to take part in a ceremony. Finally, our paths parted in the lively pedestrian area of Dōtonbori. 5/5 stars! It was truly a wonderful afternoon and evening. Thank you so much! In my opinion, a real insider tip ;)
Thank you so much for your amazing review! We're thrilled that you had such a rich and memorable experience in Osaka. It sounds like a truly special day, and we’re so glad your guide helped make it unforgettable. We appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you again soon!
I booked the tour at short notice because I was fascinated by the evening lights and impressions of Japan. My tour guide Fumiko led me to great places. Although the tour was more designed for nightlife, it took time to show me hidden places and alleys where I can take great pictures and gave me a lot of tips and suggestions. I really enjoyed the tour and saw beautiful places that I would not have found myself.
We’re so happy to hear that your spontaneous decision to book the experience led to such a memorable evening. We truly appreciate you sharing your experience and hope to welcome you on another City Unscripted experience in the future!
It was a very good tour. Our guide speaks 3 languages Japanese,English & Tagalog.Very fluent in English. She brought us to Shinsekai the old part of Osaks where locals go.We tasted food like takoyaki & kushikatsu.
Exploring Shinsekai, a true gem of Osaka, and indulging in takoyaki and kushikatsu sounds like an unforgettable adventure. We’re so glad you got to experience the city like a local, and we’d love to welcome you on another journey soon!
Delicious street food, historic landmarks, and bustling entertainment districts make Osaka unforgettable. The guide’s insights were helpful, but the busy schedule left little time to fully enjoy each site.
Thank you for your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed Osaka's street food, landmarks, and entertainment. We appreciate your comments and will take them into consideration to improve future experiences.
Our guide, Maria Soler showed us the night life of Ame mura, Shin Imamiya and Ura Namba. She was able to not only share the sites, but the story behind the places we saw and experienced. Her wish that we totally enjoy Osaka at night was a dream come true. Thank you, Maria
Brice is a very personable young man with a lot of knowledge about Osaka nightlife as he has lived there for some years. He tailored the tour based on our feedback before the tour and was very flexible during the tour to meet our interests. Brice speaks Japanese which is a bonus. He showed us very local bars and we ate local food. We moved around venues as the locals do and we couldn’t have had such a local experience without someone like Brice. A top night and would highly recommend Brice.
My husband and I had so much fun with Haruhi!! We luckily got paired with someone our same age so we were able to connect really well. She took us to all the places we requested and was able to give us some cultural insight on the area. We loved her!! 💕💕
