Tour was great but lines were long so buy tickets in advance!
Our Paris-to-Giverny-Rouen tour with BackTrip was excellent from start to finish. Alexandra was a wonderful guide who was both knowledgeable and engaging throughout the day. She shared fascinating history and insights in a way that kept the tour interesting and enjoyable. Her passion for the area and for Monet’s gardens truly enhanced the experience. The small-group tour was well organized, comfortable, and well-paced, allowing us to fully enjoy the beauty of Giverny without feeling rushed. Alexandra’s friendly personality and attention to detail made the day even more memorable. We highly recommend this tour and especially Alexandra as a guide.
Alexandra made my dream come true in visiting Claude Monet’s beautiful house and garden. Her knowledge of Monet’s life was excellent. I felt like I was visiting with a friend. There were two other ladies in the group and we all had a great day. A special treat was visiting the Joan D’arc museum. Lunch was enjoyed in a medieval village and Alexandra drove us all home safely. I look forward to my next experience with Alexandra - Back Trip
Monet’s house and garden and Rouen are worth the visit, but do your on research before as our guide wasn’t very informative. I knew we were in trouble when I asked her what that big building was across the river and she had to look at her GPS. It was the Louvre. I enjoyed being driven and she was a good driver, but not really educated on what we were seeing. She read out loud from her phone and some photocopies.
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed visiting Monet’s House & Gardens and Rouen, as these are truly exceptional places to discover. We would however like to provide some context regarding your experience. Your visit took place on May 8th, which is a national holiday in France (Victory Day). Due to the exceptionally high number of visitors in Giverny that day, waiting times to enter Claude Monet’s House & Gardens reached approximately 3 hours and can even extend to 4–5 hours during holidays and weekends. Unfortunately, these delays are entirely managed by the museum and remain outside of our control. In order to make your experience more enjoyable during this waiting period, we upgraded your tour by offering complimentary tickets to the Museum of Impressionism in Giverny, an additional visit not normally included in the tour. Additionally, your booking ultimately became a private experience for only two guests, allowing you to benefit from the full attention of the guide and a more personalized visit throughout the day. Regarding your comment about the Louvre Museum, we would like to clarify that the Louvre is located in Paris, nearly 100 km away from Giverny, and is not part of the tour itinerary. Our guide was most likely using the GPS for navigation and traffic management while driving safely. We would also like to explain that many art and Impressionism guides use tablets, images, and printed materials during tours. This allows guests to better understand Claude Monet’s life, his paintings, and the Impressionist movement through visual support that is not provided inside the museum itself. This is a common and professional practice for art-focused tours. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and remain committed to providing the best possible experience to all our guests. Best regards, Liviu C.
Alexandra was a very good guide. The tour was a good pace. It was a dream to visit Monet’s garden and home. Rouen was an interesting old town and the place of Joan of Arc’s demise.
This day trip was a truly memorable escape from Paris, beautifully combining art, history, and charming Norman towns. Giverny still feels magical. Walking through the peaceful streets of the village, you can sense the artistic spirit everywhere. Vernon was a delightful stop. The town is picturesque and authentic, with lovely historic architecture and the iconic old mill by the Seine. The Gothic cathedral in Rouen is absolutely stunning . Walking through the medieval streets and hearing the stories about Joan of Arc and the city’s rich past made the visit even more meaningful. A special highlight of the tour was our guide, Liviu. He is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and passionate about the history and art of the region. His explanations were engaging and easy to follow, and he created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for everyone. He truly made the experience richer and more personal. Overall, this tour is perfectly balanced — cultural, scenic, and inspiring. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to explore Normandy through art, history, and beautiful landscapes.
Our guide Mr. Liviu from Back Trip was simply an extra ordinary and fantastic guide. He was very knowledgeable, super friendly and caring. He showed us all the places according to our itinerary, explained the history and provided a lots of context about the places, we visited. He made our tour really awesome. Highly recommended. Hope to visit with him in our future trips.
The guide was wonderful. Not everything was open since it was winter, but our guide found great things for us to do and see. She found good places to eat and get coffee. It was a fantastic day that we will remember.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re delighted to hear that you had such a memorable day, even during the winter season. Our guide will be thrilled to know her flexibility and local knowledge helped make the experience special—from finding great places to explore to enjoying good coffee and meals along the way. We truly appreciate you choosing this tour and hope to welcome you back to France for another unforgettable experience in the future! Best regards from Paris

Thank you for your gracious 5-star review. We’re delighted that your journey to Rouen, Étretat, and Giverny was such a rewarding experience, and that the visit to Claude Monet’s house and iconic water lily gardens left a lasting impression. It’s a pleasure to know the day felt both enriching and beautifully curated. We truly appreciate your kind words and look forward to welcoming you again for another exceptional experience. Best regards from Paris
This was a great introduction to Claude Monet and several of the sites of his most famous work. We arranged for a hotel pick-up, which made the trip easy. The van could, in theory, hold 7, but that would have been tight. We had 4. We arrived at Giverny when it opened, and beat the crowds, many of whom came from cruises. The Monet home is a museum into itself, and the gardens were beyond spectacular. The brief highlights tour of Rouen centered on the Cathedral, which Monet painted several times under various light conditions from what was then a hotel overlooking the cathedral face. We also saw and learned about Joan of Arc and her importance to Rouen and France. Finally, we had not anticipated the charm and beauty of Etretat, a coastal town surrounded by cliffs, which Monet again painted several times under various light conditions. Adding this third site made the trip unique...and also made for a long day for ourselves and our driver guide. It may take some stamina, but you'll find it rewarding. It brings life and depth to the Monet artwork at the Musee d'Orsay and the Orangerie (water lilies) at the Orangerie in Paris.
Thank you for your thoughtful review! We’re so glad you enjoyed exploring Monet’s world — from the peaceful gardens of Giverny to the historic beauty of Rouen and the stunning cliffs of Etretat. It’s true, it’s a full day, but a rewarding one for any Monet admirer. We appreciate your kind words and hope to see you on another adventure soon
