We had a really great time on the Phi Phi & Bamboo Island tour from start to finish. At the beginning of the tour there was the usual sales pitch to buy water shoes and waterproof phone cases, but there was absolutely no pressure. We simply said no and ignored it, and that was the end of it. After reading some of the reviews beforehand, I think it is important to set the right expectations. You are booking a popular tour with lots of other people, so you are very likely to be on a boat with a large group of tourists. Everyone has different personalities, expectations, and ways of approaching the day, and I think it is best to just accept that going in. Do I feel a little sad about how commercialised and busy some of these beautiful places have become? Absolutely. Would I love to see restrictions on the number of tour operators and visitors? Yes. But that is the reality of these destinations today. That said, I think the way they have managed Maya Bay is excellent. The short walk from the other side of the island to reach the beach has clearly helped protect it. Having visited around 16 years ago, I actually think it looks even more beautiful now. Monkey Beach was the only stop I would not have wanted to visit on foot. Watching people walk around with wild monkeys is not something that appeals to me, so I was perfectly happy seeing them from the boat instead. Bamboo Island, the last stop, might feel a little long if you do not want to snorkel or swim. However, if you do, it is the perfect amount of time. The beach is beautiful, and there is a small shop selling drinks, smoothies, beers, and snacks if you want a refreshment. Lunch in Phi Phi was very good, and we had enough free time for a quick walk around the shops afterwards. The snorkeling stop (I cannot remember its name!) was fantastic, with plenty of fish and crystal-clear water. The scenery throughout the day was absolutely stunning. We decided not to pay extra for the longtail boat experience. For us, it seemed quite expensive, and we are very glad we skipped it. It just was not what we wanted—we preferred having more time to snorkel and enjoy the water. Finally, we were told at the start of the tour that, because it is July, the weather could make the return journey quite choppy. They were right—it was definitely a bouncy ride back! We appreciated that they set expectations from the beginning, and it was all part of the adventure. Overall, this was a really well-organised tour with friendly staff, beautiful locations, and plenty of opportunities to swim and snorkel. If you go with realistic expectations about the crowds, you will have a fantastic day.
Nice ! The service is top i recommand
A huge thank you to Team Kelly 3 and Mr.nooki Honestly, they add a great atmosphere to the trip and change your mood.
Do not book with Sawanu Travel if you expect a premium experience. They charged us a high price—plus a 3.5% card fee because they couldn't handle cash—and then failed to provide the luxury catamaran we paid for. Due to overbooking, we were downgraded to a smaller boat. As a family with a 3-year-old, we were forced to sit apart in separate rows. The guide was dismissive and rude when we asked for help. They also had a very threatening attitude, telling us they would leave us behind on islands if we were even slightly late. They showed no empathy for the challenges of traveling with a small child. Save your money and book with a company that actually values its customers.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We sincerely apologize that your experience did not meet your expectations. We truly regret the inconvenience caused regarding the boat arrangement and seating. Due to operational circumstances on the travel date, the boat assignment had to be adjusted, and we understand how disappointing this was, especially while traveling with your family and young child. We are also sorry to hear that you felt uncomfortable with the communication from our staff and guide. This is certainly not the level of service we aim to provide, and your comments have been shared with our team for immediate review and improvement. Please kindly understand that our guides may need to remind guests about timing during island stops in order to ensure the tour schedule and safety for all passengers. However, we agree that this should always be communicated politely and professionally. We truly value your feedback, as it helps us improve our services and guest experience moving forward. Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention.
It was so hurry up & wait .. felt like a heard of cattle from the time we got to the marina until we got back . We are on vacation and was totally NOT what was expected or told from the booking place . This island is so beautiful and nobody respects it with trash everywhere . Stopped at the maya beach and had a hour to see it was needed because the walk was long with so many people it was sad that the whole thing was a money maker it ruined the whole image from the movie and peaceful … they sell fruit and make u walk on a walk way with small one way there and back … every stop had major boats with exhausted fumes that caused a head ache to us . Every stop we did was so many boats and people We ended up just staying on boat and skip the 20 minutes of swim or snorkel …they did supply water and juice which was nice . We finally got off and the restaurant and it was a buffet I ate a little & my man had nothing because of the headache he had . We discussed our headache and I thought it was because no food till after 2pm but it had to be the exhaust fumes . It was like being in a garage and inhaling … our headaches lasted 2 days. It was a horrible experience and I would not suggest go . Monkey island they said nobody can go on beach because monkeys can bite and they don’t want anyone feeding them … even though other boats let people Off and they were on island taking pictures with the monkeys .. when we finally got back to marina they told us what number our cab was but not where to find it . So we went to the area where everyone was going to find out 10 minutes later we were in wrong area and our driver didn’t hold a sign up … needless to say we just wanted to go back to the resort after the first stop on this boat adventure.. we finally got off on bamboo island thinking a beer would taste good maybee get rid of headache .. they sold no beer like we were told by the guides .. how awful this experience was … don’t go !!!!

Our pick up was a little late but traffic is so unpredictable it’s only to be expected The whole day was seamless. Our guides were amazing taking care of our safety at all times The long boat into the lagoon was extra but so worth it The monkeys were scarce today but we did see a couple The snoring was a little disappointing but nice to swim in the clear sea whatever. All in all a fantastic day well worth the money!
I bought this excursion as an activity in Patong, choosing Sawanu because it was the most expensive. Given the busy time in Phuket, I was hoping to get out of the classic tourist-grabbing circuit. For about 30% more than other proposals, I chose an excursion to Phi Phi with additional stops. I would like to point out that I have been to Phi Phi before. Already at the beginning of the excursion I found myself close to three young people clearly altered, who disturbed the about 70 tourists present on the fast catamaran all the time. That's a bad start. The first stop was on a beautiful islet: it was a shame, however, that it was tiny, with a dozen boats docked and space also occupied by jet skis. There was practically no possibility of swimming. Simultaneously disembark about 600–700 people: the beach could not even be seen sand. Second stop, another islet. Here we are offered to buy a ride on a long tail boat. We accept, traveling with my wife and my 10-year-old daughter. Unfortunately it turns out to be a real joke: we enter a bay where those who have not taken the long tail have a quiet sea space to swim, while we simply go around the bay already seen by speedboat ... and then swim in the exact same body of water, only slightly further. Finally we get to Phi Phi. I expected white beach and coral reef, instead we are disembarked directly at the restaurant at 15:45, with only an hour before returning on board. No beach, no sea. Lunch, moreover, seemed unreliable: I ate only fruit. During the return there is a final stop of 30 minutes to swim in a small bay, with mask and snorkel provided. Disappointing backdrop: rocks, boulders, some sea urchins and few fish (parrot fish). In conclusion, excursion suitable only for those who want to get on a large speedboat and spend half a day there, without particular expectations on the sea, snorkeling or quality of experience. For the price paid, definitely disappointing.
The guides obviously think they are proficient in English but their thick Thai dialect prevents effective communication. Talk more slowly! The Viking Cave was just a hole in the mountain that we drove past. The Bay and Maya Sands were extremely crowded with boats and people. A snorkeling trip made no sense. On Bamboo Island you could snorkel and get some sense with it if you swam far enough out. Some aquarium fish but the corals were dark and uniform.
Terrible! The shuttle bus was late, we had to ask other drivers to contact the company so that we would not miss the boat. The info meeting in the harbor was just to sell on all flippers etc. Long wait time. We paid a lot to go longtail in the lagoon, had to queue in to crowd all the other tourists! The Viking cave was just a small opening in the mountain, which we passed by and photographed. All the stops were intense and stressful. Maya bay was awful, crowded with all the other Phuket travelers. Standing in line most of the time and being herded like sheep to catch a glimpse of the beach (where 500 other tourists stood packed). The snorkeling was not special at all and from the boat you could see nothing. Had to look for our ride in the parking lot when we got back. Also, the trip was very expensive. Tip! Rent a longtail and ask the boat owners where you should go. There are fantastic islands along the coast.
