Was a fun day exploring the French countryside. Francois was very informed and kept us on schedule and informed of the local history. Beautiful chateau and delicious wines.
This tour was brilliant. Francois, our tour guide was the best one we've come across. He was very knowledgeable and provided us with lots of interesting facts about the area. The Chateau and wine tasting were very enjoyable and the trip to Perouges was unbelievable. We would thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone.
This was a very enjoyable and informative tour. Clotilde was a great guide who shared lots of interesting information about the Beaujolais region. We loved visiting Perouge where we tried the famous gallette and admired the historic village. All in all it was all a great experience.
Our tour guide Rachael was a fabulous host. Very enthusiastic about the culture and the area. Offered very detailed descriptions of the places we visited and was very efficient adapting to the horrible weather on the last part of the tour
Wonderful day seeing the Beaujolais region. Clèm our tour guide was very knowledgeable Learnt so much about the wine and its characteristics
Francois was excellent: informative, personable and considerate. He made the excursion excellent Strongly recommend
We had an outstanding day with Rachael on our day tour from Lyon that included wine tasting at Chateau de La Chaize winery in the Beaujolais region and a visit to the small medieval town of Perouges. Rachel was very friendly and knowledgeable about wines and winemaking. She also shared a lot of interesting facts about the area. On our way to the winery we stopped at several scenic view points. We also enjoyed Perouges. We learned a lot and enjoyed the day and would highly recommend this tour. (June 5, 2025)
Overall I would not recommend this tour - it tries to do too much and is poorly planned. It needs to be re-focused either just on wine or just on small towns, and in a smaller area so there's less driving. The Bad On this tour we spent 4 hours driving and a little less than 4 hours actually doing things. All four of the stops felt rushed, and one of the longer stops was simply to eat lunch in an relatively average town. The Perouges tour was too rushed to actually appreciate the village and we spent 20 minutes of our time there just walking to parking. The lunch stop should have been skipped - I would have happily brought a bag lunch if it meant spending more time doing actual things, though I'll note we happened to do the tour on a holiday when many things were closed, more things being open would not change my opinion. We didn't learn anything about the town or the history, we just got dropped off to eat lunch and then picked up. The tour guide gave a lot of info while driving but it was difficult to hear anything once the car was moving at any decent speed. The Good The wine tasting itself was very interesting and I appreciate the tasting guide. The facility and scenery are beautiful and I liked learning about the work they're doing. Note: we didn't get to go onto the Chateau grounds. The geology stop was cool for us and we appreciated it - though I suspect the average person may not. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, helpful, and a safe driver.
The van was very tight for 9 people and it was a lot of driving. Unfortunately, the gentleman that was sitting in the back row with the 2 of us smelled really bad and was rude. It set the tone for the day. The agenda is minimal and not worth spending the entire day driving.
To begin with our guide Rachel was gracious, friendly and incredibly informative as she told both about the history of the Beujoulais area, Pérouges as well as the wine making process in that area. She was a very excellent driver and made us feel comfortable and at home. Both of these places are very well worth the visit I would highly recommend doing so and of course enjoy the wine!
