An eye-opening and must-do experience to discover the real Hong Kong
This tour is an absolute must for anyone wanting to look beyond the glittering skyline and see a deeply moving, eye-opening reality that often stays hidden.
Exploring the darker sides of the city was incredible and truly thought-provoking. A special shout-out to our guide, who was completely available, knowledgeable, and answered every single question we had with great openness and empathy.

Interesting insight into a different Hongkong
Stephen provided a great insight into Hongkong‘s real estate nightmare especially for low income earners.

Hazel explained things...
Hazel explained things about living in Hong Kong that most people in the tour did not know. Seeing the tiny cage home was a sad realization that people live in such a small area. Tour was set up well and location was easy to find. Length was the right amount of time.

Informative and fascinating
It was a pretty insightful tour that introduced us to the life of ordinary people in Hong Kong and its complicated real estate situation. On the way you can see interesting illustrative objects that not every tourist will pay attention to or know their meaning. Great choice if you have seen more sunny, touristic side of Hong Kong.

Interesting but disappointing
Disappointed by a visit that was too short, interesting comments but taking up too much of the visit. The tour of the HK habitat is too brief

Hi Caro - To clarify the pacing of the tour, the subdivided unit we visit is only 10 square meters (about 100 square feet). While our guests are always welcome to stay inside the room for as long as they wish, its extremely small size means there is naturally not a lot of physical space to explore.
Furthermore, this tour is designed specifically to bring guests up to speed on a highly complex subject. To give a complete picture, we provide deep educational context covering both individual living conditions and broader urban planning. Because of the serious nature of this housing crisis, we intentionally do not treat these homes as mere sightseeing attractions. Our priority will always be in-depth education and respect for the community over casual exploration.

Fascinating and heartbreaking in equal measures
Stephen is a wonderful guide and a passionate advocate for socially disadvantaged communities in Hong Kong. On our tour, he took us through a district filled with squalid tenements and explained how landlords take advantage of a real estate loophole to subdivide apartments and oppress the poorest members of society. Stephen’s vast knowledge of this issue and the changing laws skilfully brought this story together into one of hope.
I can’t recommend this tour highly enough. This is not glitzy Instagram Hong Kong. This is gritty Hong Kong. Do the tour, it’s an eye opener. Thank you, Stephen!

A little disappointed, Not really a tour
Resembles more of a lecture than a discovery walk of the inhabitants' way of life and their difficulty in finding housing
