Entertaining, but wish I had known the drawbacks before booking

This was a fine and enjoyable walking tour that was part ghostly and part historical. Some things I wish I had known before booking: This tour did not enter any graveyards. We stood outside on the sidewalk while other tours went through the gates and stood around the graves. It seems some tour companies have access and some don’t. It was a fairly large group, about 25 people. We could hear clearly, but it was less intimate than other groups we saw. I was surprised at the number of young children given the gruesome nature of some of the stories. Overall a very pleasant stroll around historic sites of Boston with some decent storytelling.

Justin was a great guide!...

Justin was a great guide! He has some acting classes in his background that really made his stories come to life! I really enjoyed hearing the parts of Boston that you don't read about in the history books.

A Spooky, Entertaining Night in Boston with Justin!

A Spooky, Entertaining Night in Boston! My son and I had such a great time on the Ghosts of Boston Night-Time Walking Tour! Justin made history come alive with his theatrical storytelling, great sense of humor, and fascinating ghost tales that kept everyone entertained from start to finish. Walking through Boston Common, the Old State House, King's Chapel Burying Ground, and Granary Burying Ground was the perfect mix of history, mystery, and fun. Justin shared plenty of juicy stories you won't hear elsewhere, and even showed ghost photos that are exclusive to his tour, making the experience even more memorable. If you're looking for a unique way to explore Boston after dark, this tour is absolutely worth it. Whether you love history, ghost stories, or just enjoy a fun evening, Justin delivers an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended! #GhostsOfBoston #BostonGhostTour #VisitBoston #BostonHistory #HistoricBoston #WalkingTour #GhostStories #FamilyTravel #TravelWithKids #ExploreBoston #HauntedBoston #BostonAtNight #TravelMemories #NewEnglandAdventures #MustDoInBoston

Thank you, Harlan!

There was a large family consisting of one mom and 6 children ranging from high school to lower elementary school. They arrived late which delayed our tour. During the tour, they kept interrupting and distracting the tour guide by talking amongst themselves, questing the legitimacy of his sources, discussing whatever was on their phones, and trying to prank each other. When they left the tour early, the vibe was calmer and more engaging. But, this was near the end of the tour. I commend the tour guide, Harlan, for keeping his composure and redirecting attention back to the tour. His knowledge of history was on point with great description. My daughter and I loved how expressive and interactive he was when relaying information.

unfortunately this was not a fun tour for my group. our tour guide was a nice man but he wasn’t enthusiastic or a good story teller. the tour was very dull and boring. i’ve been on many tours like this in boston in Salem and this is the first time I’ve ever left a tour early. disappointing.

Lacking on the ghost stories and also the fun

I hate being critical but feel I need to give an honest review. If I could sum up this tour in just a few words, it would be "Long and Boring". I initially chose this tour because I was with my family of all ages - a senior (late 70s), my daughter (8), and my two teenage sons (13 and 14). The tour's website promised that this tour would be good for all ages. What it should have said was that it wasn't fun for any age. It was 32 minutes (I clocked this) into the tour before we even heard our first ghost story! Let me say that I LOVE history and love getting an immersive experience. The problem with this tour/ guide was that he just didn't engage us. It felt like listening to a lecture from the most boring professor you ever had. He certainly didn't read the facial expressions or mannerisms of his tour guests, which would have told him when to move on to another subject. Or at least move physically - he had us standing around him for 30 minutes in the Common without any place to sit. He never even noticed that an elderly person might need to sit down, or that families with younger children who had been walking around all day in Boston might need to rest. Heck, I was just tired of standing there in the semi-dark trying to pretend he was interesting. He also didn't even attempt to make it spooky. With all of the rich history in Boston, it is such a shame that this was not a fun event, as it could (and should) have been great. Some of the people on our tour even left before the tour was over, they couldn't bear it any longer. Meanwhile, towards the end of our tour, we encountered the trolley ghost tour (different company). Everyone on the trolley was laughing and smiling; their guide was telling jokes and actively engaging the guests. We all looked longingly at the trolley, and one of the other tour participants whispered, " we should have been on that one". Enough said.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We're truly sorry to hear that the tour didn't live up to your expectations, especially since you were looking for an experience that would be enjoyable for your entire family. Our family-friendly tours are intended to balance the history of the city with its ghostly legends, but we understand that the pacing and storytelling style weren't the right fit for your group. We also appreciate your comments about the amount of time spent standing in one location and the lack of engagement with guests of different ages and abilities. Feedback like yours is valuable and will be shared with our team as we continue working to improve the guest experience. We're disappointed to hear that your family left feeling underwhelmed, particularly with Boston's rich history offering so much potential for an entertaining and immersive experience. Thank you again for your honest feedback, and we wish you and your family the very best on your future travels.
