The guides are the only reason I'm rating this 4 Stars. They were great and took amazing care of everyone on the boat. Here are a couple things you should know. If you're coming off a cruise ship, you probably have transportation or will take a taxi to the dock, but if you have a rental car and are staying on the island it can be confusing. We found our way to a parking lot, and another person in the marina told use we needed to park back over in the front, so we got back in the car and drove all the way back to the front of the Marina. We couldn't find anything with "Cozumel Tours" indicating a meeting location and then the security guard told us we needed to park the car back in the parking lot and walk over. So after doing this again and walking half a mile in the heat, we were told the tour company was actually called "May-be" tours. Check in was wild, dozens of people showing up. Little to no organization and you're charged 10 pesos to use the bathroom....the problem was the lady that opens the bathroom was running late. When you actually get to use the bathroom, there are no toilet seats and the toilet paper is on a single roll in the middle of the bathroom. After getting that sorted we just sat around waiting to leave. There was one guy running around with a notepad and calling out names, and thats when I figured out that they have multiple boats and they just play math games to pack them with as many people as they can. There were probably 22-24 people on our little boat and one passenger complained about feeling uneasy because there were so many people. The guides were so great at dealing with people with multiple language barriers, attitudes, swimming proficiency and ages. The rented snorkel gear doesn't have a water catch on the tub and the masks will start to hurt your forehead after a while, but the reefs are beautiful. A few more things to think about, with so many people and one guide in the water, they want to keep the group close together, and I can't tell you how many times I was hit by a leg or an arm while just trying to snorkel. The second and third stops are El cielo and El cielito....absolutely gorgeous water, stingrays, starfish, conch shells with free water , cola, beer and ceviche. All in all it was a good trip but logistics could be better.
WOW, what an experience! This was my favorite day of our week long cruise, I will remember it forever. I found this trip on Viator, the reviews were great so I gave it a try. This was soooo much fun! We went to a big beautiful reef, shallows, a starfish sanctuary and a stingray hangout. We saw turtles, sharks, stingrays and lots of tropical fish. The water was insanely clear. Our guide Ricky was so nice and knowledgeable. Jorge was a fantastic captain. And I must say, Rafael took incredible pictures!!! We ended up buying the photos, they were 1000x better than the ones I took. He was so sweet to my two girls, as they kept following him around because he had the food for the fish. I have taken many snorkel trips throughout my life and this is up near the top! I would 100% join them again. Thank you for a fun time!
Absolutely incredible! We're adventurers and have traveled and explored all over the world. There is nothing like being out on the open ocean and snorkeling in the beautiful clear water off the coast of Cozumel. We saw sting rays, eels, sharks, tons of fish including puffer fish and so many giant starfish fish!!
Everything I hoped for -- lots of wildlife, a well-organized excursion, a friendly crew, and a great vibe.
We had a great time. We saw starfish turtles, stingrays, and lots and lots of fish team that helped us was great. All the stops are fun to spend time at. We had a great time. Thanks
I could not be happier for the snorkeling on this tour. We booked outside the cruise as they didn’t offer this tour and I liked the 4 stops. Took a taxi $15 each way. Weather was overcast and water was choppy but the guide we had…sorry horrible with names was amazing. Too rough for my hubby he waited until we reached the stingray area. We saw turtles, plenty of coral and fish, an eel, stingrays. They showed us parts of Cozumel I had never seen before. The water was crystal clear. They served water, cola and beer and chips with fresh ceviche. Thank you three (boat driver, guide and photographer) for making our day such a wonderful experience
Great tour! My only small complaint was the pick up point was a little hard to find but people at the marina are helpful once you get there.
This tour visited three sites for snorkeling. We got to see beautiful fish, star fish, stingrays (and were even fortunate enough to see a shark!) The tour guides were outstanding and helpful. They provided ceviche, sodas, water and beer. They brought a professional photographer. Picture prices were comparable to on the cruise ship. Things I wish I knew: #1 the place was hard to find. The big sign said "May be tours" and the very little sign "Cozumel tours". The directions saying it was next to the tequila shop were also less than helpful since that was also a much smaller sign on that shop. #2 Keeping up with the guide was hard for weak swimmers at the first stop. I'd recommend practicing with fins before going. My son said they really helped him, but I felt like it made my situation worse #3 Put the mask on tight--really tight! Getting salt water in your eyes is painful #4 I kind of wish I brought my own snorkel. I had a hard time keeping saltwater out of my mouth and became queasy from the amount I swallowed. For that matter, it would have been nice to have practiced with a snorkel first. #5 You might get motion sick. My wife definitely should have taken dramamine. #6 There are three stops. The first one is the hardest. The last one you could just stand and eat a snack. #7 the bathroom cost 10 pesos per person at the dock.
Boat ride out was long and super choppy waters. We felt like we were in the boat more than snorkeling. But liked the snorkeling and saw a lot snorkeling.
This is our third time of taking this tour. We finally got to see the sea turtles!!! All in all great experience. The swim guide loosened up the longer we were on the excursion which was nice. The water and the snorkeling is awesome. The sand bar stop is also fun. You can stand in the water and stingrays and fish will swim around you. The ceviche for a snack was really good!! I would recommend this excursion. Just know if you meet at the Marina it is an $11 a person extra charge. Also, ask the price of pictures before committing because we paid $300 for pictures (lesson learned)!!!!!
