MEZQUITA IMPERIAL DE SULTANAHMET Frente a Santa Sofía, construida en el siglo XVI por el arquitecto Mehmet, es conocida como la MEZQUITA AZUL debido a su magnífica decoración interior con azulejos azules de Iznik.
En este laberinto de calles y pasadizos hay más de 4.000 tiendas, cada una con su propia zona dedicada a un oficio: la calle de los orfebres, la de los vendedores de alfombras, la de las artesanías turcas, como platos de cerámica pintados a mano, objetos de cobre labrados a mano, artículos de latón y bandejas, jarras de agua, objetos de ónix y pipas de espuma de mar.
Esta antigua basílica, construida por Constantino el Grande en el siglo IV y reconstruida por Justiniano en el siglo VI, es una de las maravillas arquitectónicas de todos los tiempos.
El Palacio de Topkapi, el gran palacio de los sultanes otomanos desde el siglo XV hasta el XIX, alberga una exquisita colección de cristal, plata y porcelana china, así como las vestimentas que lucieron los sultanes y sus familias. También se exhiben las famosas joyas del Tesoro Imperial, miniaturas y el Manto Sagrado, que guarda reliquias del profeta Mahoma.

Try and avoid Friday and Saturday - the crowds were immense. Our guide was excellent with a superb knowledge of ancient history as he explained the significance of each mosque and monument.

Great day experiencing some of the main sites in Istanbul . Our guide Burak was very knowledgeable and welcoming. showed us all the best photo spots and accommodated our pace. He also facilitated a skip the line ticket option on arrival. The sites are a must see, words would be an understatement. Burak is also an expert of the grand bazar. This tour was a great introduction to Istanbul and Sultanahmet. Our tour guide Ozgen was knowledgeable great personality and kind. Even though we were there on a public holiday with lots of people we never felt rushed and could see everything we wanted to. Ozgen even took us to her favourite restaurant for lunch and we returned there the next day. I thoroughly recommend this tour early in your visit to Istanbul as you come away with a fount of knowledge about Turkey and its history. Thank Ozgen for making our stay in Istanbul a standout.
