La Cisterna Basílica fue diseñada para abastecer al Gran Palacio Bizantino y a los edificios circundantes. Podía almacenar hasta 100.000 toneladas de agua que se suministraban a través de 20 km de acueductos desde un depósito situado alrededor del Bosque de Belgrado. La Cisterna Basílica (Cisterna subterránea, Yerebatan) es una de las cisternas más famosas de Estambul. Fue construida durante el Imperio Bizantino y, posteriormente, no fue utilizada por el Imperio Otomano y permaneció olvidada durante mucho tiempo. Desde que fue descubierta y restaurada, ahora se utiliza como museo desde 1988.

The tour guide was very helpful. My friend missed the tram, and the guide went with him on the tram.
The guide was very kind and offered us to visit the racetrack as well, it is a place with a lot of history and a wonderful architecture and ambiance. I felt like I was in the 007 movie walking along those walkways. I would have liked the tour to be available in Spanish.
