A phenomenal experience. The tour guide was a true host. Highly recommend.
We thought this was a terrible experience. It was difficult to find, but that was mostly our fault. Skip the line tickets helped as there was a long regular line. Evidently shoulders have to be covered and they sell you something for 1 Euro. LOT of people in a small corridor to look at exhibits from friars of the past. Evidently no air conditioning in that building. I have a ten year old and they neglected to give her the kid audio version so she could listen to the items marke kids. The bones were cool but it was a small exhibit at the end of the tour
This was very interesting. Seeing the munks skeletons in beautiful poses and the designs created from them.
The most unique place I have ever visited. Truly indescribable but absolutely must visit. You need something to cover your shoulders just to pre-warn you!
Hi Hayley, Thank you so much for the wonderful recommendation. We are thrilled to hear that the crypts made such a lasting impression and that you found it to be a truly unique experience. We also really appreciate you mentioning the dress code. Reminding future visitors to cover their shoulders is incredibly helpful for anyone planning a visit to this sacred site. Thank you again for exploring with us, and we hope the rest of your time in Rome was just as memorable.
Probably our biggest surprise in Rome. Went from "let's go see a strange bunch of bones" to a fascinating education into the a religious order under the authority of Francis of Assisi. The audio self-guided tour was perfectly written to help you to not go racing to the bones, but just stop and take a few moments to get some background. Clever, and it worked. The bones gained meaning and were no longer bones but a celebration of life, as was intended by the order. The painting "Saint Francis in meditation", by Caravaggio, is also on display.
Hi Gregory, Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience with us. It is incredibly rewarding to hear how the audio guide helped shift your perspective from a curious look at the bones to a deep appreciation for the history and philosophy of the Capuchin friars. We love that you took the time to slow down, absorb the background, and view Caravaggio's masterpiece. We truly appreciate you visiting the crypts with us and hope the rest of your time in Rome was filled with equally fascinating discoveries.
Highly recommend! The museum was a bit boring but the actual crypts were amazing. This is such a hidden gem! The tour operator made it very easy with the skip the line tickets.
Fiona was an amazing guide with a lot of knowledge about the tour and surrounding areas. Tour took us to amazing places to see
Arvin was a very welcoming and pleasant chap and really informative friendly made you feel comfortable straight away and was very helpful and amazing guy and the tour company should be ecstatic that they have him working for them. 100 stars.
We will told to meet the guide to pick up our self guided headsets but we could have gone straight to the museum and just walked in.
Arvin was amazing and told us a lot of very interesting facts along the drive. Loved it!
