I was nervous if these tickets would actually come through in time as promised but they texted me the tickets the day before our scheduled entry to climb the dome and worked out great! I had just missed buying them directly from the site and was so grateful that we were still able to climb the Duomo on our visit. Our tickets got us into all the sites as it said and worked very smoothly. The Duomo was cooler inside than expected. It was so hot outside but plesant inside. It was a lot of steps and totally doable by us. We were in the front of our entry time and they stop you 2/3s up ( I assume for the previous group to clear out) and that rest of a few minutes not only allowed us to enjoy the art on the ceiling of the dome but also rest. They stop you at a similar stop even closer to the ceiling on the way down. And probably 1/3 of the way and the same level on the way down, there is a large landing you can chose to stop at if you choose. It is a fairly narrow staircase up and down. So it was great to not have people trying to pass eachother going in different directions like at the bell tower. And then the views of Florence from the top of dome, outside were amazing!! but it was midday and hot up there in the sun.
This was a super fun experience and terrific was to see Florence from a Birds Eye view. The climb to the top was quicker than I expected. About halfway to there is an opportunity to see the inside of the church from a very high point, plus a closer look at the paintings on the ceiling. Would highly recommend.
The package that we purchased was fantastic. The Duomo dome climb is a must! We received our tickets the day before with clear instructions on where to go and what to do. Would definitely book with this company again. We booked this because the Duomo official site was sold out.
I believe that one must be trained; there are a tremendous number of stairs to climb between the dome and the baptistery.
This was my first time using Viator. Several weeks before my trip to Florence, I booked the Brunelleschi's Dome Climb and Duomo Cathedral Entry Ticket, paid in full, received a confirmation number, confirmation email, and had the booking confirmed in the Viator app. The tour was operated by Tourify Tours. On the day of the tour, I arrived at the meeting point about 10 minutes early and checked in with the Tourify Tours representative. After showing my confirmation, I was told that my booking had been cancelled. This was surprising because I had not cancelled the reservation and had even received a confirmation reminder from Viator the day before stating that the booking was confirmed. It appears that the tour was overbooked and my reservation was removed despite having a valid confirmation. I do not know whether this was a Viator issue or a Tourify Tours issue, but as the customer, I was left without the experience I had specifically booked. To their credit, the staff did offer me a transfer to a similar tour, but it did not include the Dome Climb, which was the primary reason I chose this booking in the first place. While standing at the meeting point, I contacted Viator customer support through the app. Customer support was responsive and provided a partial refund of approximately $16. However, after reviewing the replacement tour, I learned that its listed price was only about €20. Even after the partial refund, I still paid significantly more than the value of the experience I ultimately received, which left me feeling disappointed and somewhat misled. I remained calm and made the best of the situation. I had traveled all the way to Florence and did not want to spend the day upset over something I could not control. As for the experience itself, entering the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore was meaningful, especially as a Catholic. The Baptistery of St. John would have been more enjoyable if much of the ceiling artwork had not been obscured by scaffolding. I also visited the Opera del Duomo Museum, which helped add value to the day, and the air conditioning was very welcome given that temperatures were in the low 90s. The highlight and saving grace of the experience was climbing Giotto's Bell Tower, which provided excellent views of Florence and helped salvage what otherwise would have been a very disappointing day. I would recommend visiting these sites and experiences to anyone traveling to Florence. However, based on my experience, I have reservations about booking through Viator again unless there is greater assurance that confirmed reservations will actually be honored.
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. First of all, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment caused by the change to your original booking. We would also like to thank you for highlighting the positive aspects of your visit, particularly your experience inside the Cathedral, the Opera del Duomo Museum, and the climb of Giotto's Bell Tower. We are pleased that these experiences helped make your day in Florence enjoyable despite the unexpected circumstances. Regarding the Dome Climb, we informed you in advance that the tickets had become unavailable due to extremely high demand and limited availability. As soon as we became aware of the issue, we contacted you before making any changes to the reservation, explained the situation, and obtained your consent for the alternative experience offered. In addition, as promised, a partial refund was processed to compensate for the difference between the original experience and the replacement tour. While we understand that the alternative did not fully replace the Dome Climb, we did our best to provide a suitable option rather than canceling the visit entirely. We truly regret that the experience did not meet your original expectations and appreciate your understanding throughout the process. Your feedback is valuable to us as we continue working to improve our service and communication with guests. Thank you again for your patience and for sharing your experience.
We chose this package because there were no Dome Climb tickets from the primary source. The vendor in the final week said no Dome Climb tickets were available, meaning they were selling us something they didn’t have. Certainly they knew it all along but just lured us in by claiming they did. I demand a full refund for being defrauded.
Exciting, very beautiful, fantastic experience not to be missed, seeing Florence from the top of the dome is a must see
Bad experience Booked one month in advance paid in advance The reservation arrives by confirmed email and then on the day of the visit directly on site it is said that it is not possible to make the visit because it is sold out. Ruined trip one day that was supposed to be a holiday was ruined by this PSEUDO AGENCY
Booked the last time slot a day in advance and we were lucky to get in when the Dome is sold out until June!
If you are fit this should be a breeze. The climb to the dome is a fun activity with kids. There are areas to take a breather, and there are some steep sections not recommended for the claustrophobic. The Giotto tower climb gives you the best views though. Timing of the climb also key if you are into photography .. late afternoon/ evening climb on the tower is recommended. I was lucky to book for 3 one night before the activity via Viator. The official site didn’t have any slots. Recommend booking week or month in advance. On the day of the activity, you meet the staff in front of the Tabacchi and he informed that they only had 2 for the Dome but the 3rd person has rest of the access. So we split up & climbed both .. waved at each other at the top. No refunds were offered.
