En este recorrido visitaremos dos destinos y tendremos la mezca de Arqueología, Historia, Naturaleza y pueblo colonial. Cihuatan, es el sitio arqueológico más extenso y uno de los mejor restaurados, te guiarán por sus juegos de pelota, por la plaza principal, podrás subir a la pirámide principal, entenderás por qué se llama: El lugar al lado a la mujer Suchitoto es el pueblo colonial mejor conservado, que por alguna razón su suelo ha permitido que la mayoría de sus casas permanezcan intactas por más de 250 años a pesar de estar en una tierra volcánica afectada por terremotos.

Cihuatan (en náhuat: lugar junto a la Mujer) es el sitio arqueológico más grande de El Salvador, pero uno de los menos conocidos. Este sitio fue habitado por una civilización emergente después del colapso de los mayas. Ingresaremos a la plaza principal, observaremos la pirámide principal a la que podemos escalar, y conoceremos los juegos de pelota mejor conservados del país. Descubre la historia detrás de este sitio arqueológico desconocido.
Suchitoto significa en nuestra lengua náhuat “Pájaro en flor”. Al llegar a este mágico destino, te sumergirás en la belleza del lugar. Su guía realizará con usted un recorrido a pie por los destinos más importantes del lugar, Paseos por las hermosas calles empedradas. Visitarás los hermosos edificios que sobrecogen a la ciudad como el teatro, o la imponente iglesia colonial de Santa Lucía. Tendrás impresionantes vistas del apacible lago de Suchitlán, reconocido por ser el lugar perfecto para practicar la observación de aves. Después del tour guiado por la ciudad tendrás tiempo extra para recorrer la ciudad a tu manera. Visitando las tiendas de arte, degustando postres en las cafeterías o tomando fotografías de esta hermosa ciudad, visite las hermosas galerías de arte. Y puedes visitar las tiendas productoras de añil, un hermoso colorante natural que durante años fue el producto de exportación más importante de El Salvador.
Visitaremos la emblemática cascada Los tercios, reconocida por su especial formación rocosa formada. Una escultura tallada a la perfección, creada por la Madre Naturaleza; Su interés radica en la espectacular composición de la pared vertical de la cascada formada por bloques hexagonales de fina piedra labrada, que conforman el fondo de la cascada. La altura del salto puede superar los 10 metros y aunque en época seca forma una imagen singular, es en época de lluvias cuando el agua desciende por los bloques que alcanza su mayor esplendor y belleza escénica. No olvides traer zapatos muy cómodos.

I was the only person on this trip that day. The guide had so much to share, and knows the place very well! He also happened to be the one who manages the tour company too; his story growing up in El Salvador and struggling through its tumultous history touched my heart! I enjoyed a lot of random fruits along the way, which was so much fun :-) Please go on this trip!
It is a full-day tour (about 8ish hours) and a great way to experience El Salvador if you're only there a couple of days. You'll walk a lot. Our guide was Herbert and he was really good. Our first stop was the Volcano above San Salvador (El Boqueron National Park). You'll get a terrific view over San Salvador and you can do the glass floor walk over the caldera. Very good way to start the day. Next you will visit the Cihuatan ruins. The guide Herbert was really knowledgeable on the Nautl people and language and you will see the pyramid, ball court and temple grounds. It was really interesting and informative. Finally you'll visit the old capital of El Salvador Suchitoto, which is a beautiful quaint colonial town. We stopped and ate at La Posada de Suchitlan for lunch, a restaurant with incredible vistas, gardens, and good authentic Salvadoran food. Then you'll get a little walking tour of Suchitoto including the quaint church in the middle of town. Be sure to buy some coffee because it is delicious. Again, great single day El Salvador experience, great guide, and bring your walking shoes.
We had a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide from Eco Tours Petate. He was early at our hotel. He even provided us with chilled water. After leading us around the Mayan ruins and the charming colonial town he selected a restaurant overlooking a lake where we dined in style together.

This is the best tour I’ve had in El Salvador. I have a fascination with the Mesoamerican civilization, which has taken me to places in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras. El Salvador was the last Maya country I had not yet seen. I had a private tour with Eco Tourism and Herbert as my guide. He was very knowledgeable about the places we visited and about El Salvador in general. He had answers to all my questions. The pacing of the tour was exactly what I expected. Herbert was very passionate about what he does and highly professional.
This was a great tour! Antonio was such a great tour guide. Suchitoto was a beautiful historical city. We got nice pictures of the lake. I was really impressed that Antonio took us to the first house in Suchitoto. It was incredibly historical and well preserved. Entire tour was really great and well organized. All credit to Antonio.
