I had an amazing time! Josué was kind and knowledgeable. The hike was exhilarating and rewarding!! Such a great experience and views!!
Great experience. Guide was great. Informative and entertaining. Took time for everyone. Not rushed. Hike isn't easy but also not too hard. Plenty of stops for people to catch their breath if needed. Great views. Huge variety of lunch menu options and I was impressed with what I got for $11USD. Definitely recommend.
What an adventure! Hiking Santa Ana Volcano was an incredible experience from start to finish. The tour was very well organized, with clear details and guidance provided for every leg of the hike, which made the entire day feel smooth and manageable. Our guide was fantastic—knowledgeable, encouraging, and full of interesting information about the region, the volcano, and the surrounding landscape. The hike was challenging, but reaching the top and taking in the incredible views made it completely worth it. It was truly a great day of adventure, learning, and accomplishment! I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for an unforgettable way to experience El Salvador.
This is a great activity, especially if you want to stay active while experiencing some beautiful scenery in El Salvador. The views along the hike and from Santa Ana Volcano make the effort worth it. One thing I would definitely mention before booking: this is not an easy hike. I also wouldn’t call it extremely difficult, but you should be prepared for a challenge and be in decent enough condition to maintain a reasonable pace. Keep in mind that this is a group tour and everything operates on a schedule. You have a certain amount of time to complete the hike, reach the top, enjoy the views, take your pictures, and make it back down so the group can continue with the rest of the day. I mention this because we had an issue during our tour where one person was having a very difficult time keeping up with the group but was determined to reach the top regardless. It reached a point where we were at risk of not making it to the summit by the required time. It also put our guide, Gabby, in a difficult position because she had to balance helping one person while still being responsible for the rest of the group and keeping everyone on schedule. With that said, Gabby handled the situation extremely well. She was a great tour guide—friendly, helpful, patient, and professional throughout the entire experience. She genuinely seemed to enjoy teaching us about El Salvador, its history and culture, and she was always willing to answer questions along the way. I honestly don’t know how tour guides maintain that level of patience while dealing with so many different personalities, but Gabby did a great job. I especially appreciated how she handled a difficult situation without allowing it to ruin the experience for everyone else. Overall, this was a great experience and a hike I would recommend. Just come prepared, understand that it will be physically challenging, and remember that you’re hiking as part of a group with a schedule to follow. Thank you, Gabby, for the guidance, patience, and a great experience!
Diego was absolutely amazing! He reached out ahead of time with expectations and pickup instructions. Diego was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating on the hike. Excellent all around experience and would recommend to anyone!
The tour to the Santa Ana Volcano and Lake Coatepeque was outstanding. The site itself is a geologic wonder. It's hard to capture the scale, geography, and vibrant colors of the volcano, the hot lake of sulfuric acid, and the surrounding flora and fauna. But what made the trip extra special was Diego, our guide. This guy is incredibly passionate about what he does. His English was perfect. He stayed on schedule, drove us all safely, and made sure we were all very comfortable. He even called in our lunches and head of time at the Lake so we wouldn't have to wait for our food after descending from the volcano. Bring cash to buy home made frozen deserts on the trail. Make sure you stretch, wear comfortable shoes, and don't forget your water and sunscreen. I'm very grateful for this tour and especially for Diego. 100% recommend! 🙏🏼🫶🏼
Some parts of the hike were a little difficult but doable. The volcano is beautiful. Our guide was friendly and helpful. We had a nice time.
Excellent day, Josué was a genuinely enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. Pick up was bang on time and the day itself was really a highlight of my trip. Both the volcano and the lake are amazing and the food at the restaurant was great too.
Josue was such a fun and knowledgeable guide. The timing for each leg of the trip was well paced. The hike is not easy (rocky and steep), so be prepared! Our group was pretty slow, but Josue was patient with the stragglers. The lake was really nice and the perfect temperature to cool off, but know that there's not really sand to sunbathe on - you can sit at the restaurant, swim, or go jet skiing. Thank you for an unforgettable day, Josue!!
My wife and I were in the country for the first time and we really wanted to get to know not only urban life but also the local nature. Chose El Salvador Positive Tours for this and didn't regret it one bit. Our guide was a wonderful guy Diego, he has amazing English, perfect pronunciation and clear speech (and of course Spanish, which is his mother tongue and in which he was also kind enough to communicate with me, which is great for me, as I am actively learning this language). Communication was easy and easy. The transfer was very convenient as we were taken from our accommodation in the morning and taken back in the evening. The car is comfortable, there is air conditioning, except the guide was a good driver. When we arrived at the volcano, there was no need to pay anything, all these costs are already included in the tour price. Climbing was at a comfortable pace for the whole group, we all had time to chat and get acquainted, Diego had a great conversation and told interesting stories about local life and the history of the country. At the summit we were able to spend enough time to take beautiful photos with the volcano and enjoy the view. It is difficult to describe in words, such beauty must be seen with your own eyes:) After the volcano, we were taken to a restaurant that was on the shore of another lake, Diego had a menu on hand, so we ordered in advance, the restaurant didn't have to wait long. In short, I highly recommend this guide and this company, perfect service, very human and kind attitude, during the tour we were very comfortable and well, definitely it is worth it! 11/10 THANK YOU VERY MUCH, Diego!
