El Wat Rong Khun es lo más destacado de Chiangrai, fundado en 1997 por el artista más famoso de Tailandia llamado Chalermchai Kositpipat. Se trata de un templo único que destaca por el color blanco y el uso de trozos de vidrio en el yeso, que brillan al sol. El color blanco significa la pureza de Buda y la arquitectura del templo combina el diseño moderno tailandés y lanna tailandés que simboliza el cielo budista.
El Triángulo Dorado es la frontera de 3 países que se unen; Tailandia, Myanmar y Laos, en un solo lugar. Se encuentra a 9 kilómetros al norte de Chiang Saen a lo largo de la carretera que bordea el río Mekong. Sop Ruak es el lugar donde el río Mekong, la frontera entre Tailandia y Laos, se encuentra con el río Ruak, la frontera entre Tailandia y Myanmar. En el pasado, el Triángulo de Oro fue la gran fuente de tráfico de drogas en el mundo debido a su ubicación privilegiada junto a muchos países. Sin embargo, actualmente está bien cuidado y se convierte en una popular atracción turística. Desde el mirador, los turistas encontrarán la tierra que conecta los tres países, rodeada por el largo y tranquilo río Mae Kong.
La construcción del templo fue iniciada por la comunidad local en 1996 para reemplazar un antiguo templo abandonado que anteriormente se encontraba en el sitio, aunque la construcción no comenzó hasta 2005. Su diseño final fue realizado por el artista local llamado Sala Nok. Wat Rong Suea Ten se traduce como "Casa del tigre danzante". El templo lleva el nombre de los tigres que alguna vez vagaron por la zona. La imagen de Buda en la capilla tiene más de seis metros de altura y data de 2008. Se llama Buda Rajamongkol Bodhi Trilokanat.
Wat Huay Pla Kang fue fundado en 2005, diseñado por un verdadero visionario, lo que explica su estilo inusual, conocido por su arquitectura única, construida en estilo chino-Lanna. El templo tiene tres lugares principales para experimentar, como; - La estatua de Guanyin es una de las principales atracciones, llamada erróneamente la Gran Dama Buda, Guan Yin era la leyenda de la "diosa budista" de la cual es una deidad importante en la escuela budista Mahayana. En esta parte, podemos tomar el ascensor hasta la cima de la estatua en el piso 25-26 y ver la vista de Chiang Rai desde la cabeza de la estatua de Guanyin.
Las aguas termales de Mae Khachan se encuentran a medio camino entre Chiangmai y Chiangrai, que están rodeadas de montañas y están clasificadas como una de las mejores aguas termales del norte, que no solo tiene una maravillosa vista natural del norte sino también muchas cosas interesantes en su interior. atraer visitantes tanto tailandeses como extranjeros. Hay agua mineral agradable para que los pies se remojen en su jardín para relajarse, y el viajero también puede comprar huevos de gallina para hervir en el agua caliente natural y tomar un buen café de las tierras altas de Chiangrai.

It was a long 13-hour day, but a truly memorable experience! Our guide, M, was excellent. He drove safely, kept the car spotless and well air-conditioned, and provided us with cold water and tasty local snacks throughout our journey. He also regularly checked in to see if we needed bathroom or stretch breaks, which made the long drives much more manageable. Our first stop was the Thaweesin Chiang Rai Hot Springs. We got the opportunity to soak our feet in the warm thermal water which was very relaxing. Every now and then a straight stream of water would shoot up in the air by the entrance to this place, a chance to take an awesome photo! Be sure to visit the roti food stand where the owner will make fresh roti with all sorts of fillings. We shared the banana roti which tasted amazing! The temples were stunning, especially the Blue Temple, which was our favorite of the day. The boat ride on the Mekong River was a fun and unique experience. Although the Laos border was closed that day and we couldn’t cross over, we still really enjoyed learning about the Golden Triangle’s history and seeing the point where three countries meet. M our tour guide took lots of fantastic photos of us, a perk of choosing a private guide over a public one. You can ask as many questions as you want and the pace is yours only. Overall, we’re glad we did the tour, but it’s definitely a long haul. If you have the time, we’d recommend spreading it out over two days for a more relaxed pace. Still, it was a fantastic way to see some of Northern Thailand’s most iconic landmarks in a single trip.

Had an absolutely wonderful experience with Mr. Big on 2/7/25. Picked us up at hotel, drove to all destinations while chatting with us in learning more about Thailand. He took us around the popular temples in bypassing the tour bus crowds while taking our pictures which looked professional. The boat ride to Golden Triangle and Laos was exceptional, having beer and exploring the market with its different knockoff items. Was a very long day that ended 13 hours after it started. I highly recommend Mr. Big for your tour guide to ask for. A good guide!!

John was my fabulous guide. He was like a walking encyclopedia with lots of information. He was patient, a great photographer, cab driver, and humorous. The tour is one of the highlights of my trip . The WHITE temple was gorgeous! Ask for John if possible.
