El songthaew (camioneta) nos deja en el punto de partida de la caminata desde donde comenzamos a caminar hasta Wat Pha Lat. El Camino del Monje es un sendero forestal histórico en las laderas de Doi Suthep cerca de Chiang Mai. El sendero conduce a través de la selva hasta el tranquilo templo Wat Pha Lat. El nombre proviene de los monjes budistas que tradicionalmente usaban este camino para caminar entre los templos y la ciudad antes de que existieran las carreteras modernas. NOTAS: El Camino del Monje generalmente se considera una caminata fácil (30 - 45 minutos) para las personas en condición física normal. Escondido en el frondoso bosque en las laderas de Doi Suthep se encuentra uno de los templos más pacíficos del norte de Tailandia : Wat Pha Lat. A menudo conocido como el “templo de la selva” de Chiang Mai, también es el punto final del conocido Camino del Monje. Construido en 1355, Wat Pha Lat tiene un ambiente muy diferente de los templos más concurridos de la región. Rodeado de una densa selva, el complejo del templo se mezcla maravillosamente con su entorno natural. Antiguos edificios de piedra, escaleras cubiertas de musgo, tallas intrincadas, estatuas de Buda y pequeños santuarios están esparcidos por los terrenos, creando un entorno sereno y casi místico. Wat Phra That Doi Suthep se considera uno de los lugares de peregrinación más sagrados de Tailandia. NO elija un hotel al azar de la lista si no es un huésped en ese hotel. Los participantes que sean elegibles para la recogida en el hotel deben tener en cuenta que las recogidas comenzarán hasta 45 minutos antes de la hora de inicio del tour programada.

This was an excellent tour of the Doi Suthep Temple & Wat Pha Lat. Both of these temples are special, unique and different from the temples in the Old City. Wat Pha Lat is a complex of temples and buildings in the jungle. We then hiked down the Monk's trail which was very scenic. I am glad we hiked down the mountain instead of some tours that hike up the mountain. Our tour guide was very informative and friendly. My only recommendation is to be transported in an air conditioned van and not in the back of the red truck (taxi). It was hot, muggy, noisy and the smell of the exhaust.

Jane met us on time at the hotel with a famous red taxi driver. We then travelled all the way to the highest temple. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. She helped us understand a lot of the history and religions behind the temples. We had a fantastic time and would thoroughly recommend Jane as a guide. She often does city guiding too.
