What a wonderful day trip from Sarajevo! Our guide, Ahmed, was so personable and knowledgeable, a true joy to spend the day hiking through the woods with. The drive there was a breeze, the hike took around 3 hours with plenty of stops for pictures and rest. I didn’t find it strenuous, but if you aren’t used to mountain hiking with some steep, rocky areas it may not be for you! Ahmed was super attentive, though, and made sure everyone got through the tougher spots without any issues. The group was really friendly and kind as well, and lunch in the village was great. Highly recommend!
We started the day with Kenan and he was extremely kind and patient with us the whole day. He stopped at so many unique places and provided and interactive history that you would never get doing this journey on your own. He knows the right people to stop and talk with in the village and on the way, and his passion for supporting the local community and sustaining their lifestyle was inspiring. If you are going on a trip to Lukomir and think it’s not worthwhile to get a guide like him, think again. You don’t want to miss this experience. The trip becomes 1000x better with someone who has the passion and knowledge to give you the best experience
What a wonderful experience, a guide who knows so much about the history and nature of the area, you learn so much. We booked only 48 hours in advance and he still completed with just the 2 of us. It was fascinating learning so much about the wildlife, plants and general history of bosnia and the village. Guide was from the area too which made it special. Views from Lukomir are stunning. Pick up and drop off was perfect as well. Highly recommend🙏🙌 Food is incredible❤️❤️
Very enjoyable walk and our guide Kenan was ready to answer all of our questions. He told us the story of this snake that was terrorising the villagers, then got petrified in the mointains as a result of divine intervention. Along the way we crossed other hikers, foreigners, villagers, flocks of sheep, even friendly dogs…
A view you’ll never forget. If you haven’t been yet — it’s about time you go. Some views are worth every step and every mile to reach them. We sat there, gazing at the mountains; the scene looked like a painting, almost unreal. The village is utterly charming, the food was delicious, and the hosts were simply wonderful — warm, welcoming, and full of genuine kindness.
This was our first visit to Bosnia and Kenan made a great presentation of the Bosnian mountains on the hike to Lukomir. We also got a view of the ridge and valley we were going to do the next day, exciting! We can gladly reccomend this hike :)
The tour was supposed to be just a nice end to our 16-day journey through Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia & Herzegovina. Little did we know it would become the absolute highlight of the entire trip. The nature we witnessed during the circular hike was nothing short of breathtaking, and the experience was further enhanced by the remoteness, peace, and silence — and the absence of any crowds. The stories Kenan shared with us along the trek were enriching and thought-provoking. We also immensely enjoyed the lunch prepared by the warm and welcoming inhabitants of Lukomir. The women of Lukomir are excellent craftswomen, and we were delighted to support their beautiful tradition by purchasing several locally knitted garments. We could not recommend this trip enough. We left a big piece of our hearts in Bosnia & Herzegovina and know we will be back. Thank you, Kenan, for making it such a fun and memorable day!
Simply a breathtaking experience : Bosnian mountains are so special and Kenan truly brings life and beauty to this hike with his knowledge of history and nature
we went there by car (12km in road with bad condition) - but the destination worths it ! it's like the end of the world there, but the views on canyon are so great !
Our guide was very knowledgeable about both local culture and nature and clearly cared for the environment around us. The circuit trail offered a good balance of challenges and amazing views. Lukomir Village was charming with an interesting story, and the local food was delicious. The “trail mix” consisted of energy snacks and fruit. Highly recommended.
