A truly beautiful castle. The village is cute, even if not original. A stop here is worth it to break up our road trip with a child. Nice playground inside.
We made the decision on the day on our road trip from Dingle to Galway to make a stop at Bunratty. I initially thought the 20 Euro per adult entry fee was a bit high but after just ten minutes inside I saw it was actually great value! The whole place is really well done and the castle is incredible. Crowds weren’t a factor despite us going in August.
What a castle , located in a beautiful location , I thought it will be just a small castle, but no , it is very big place , lots to see , lots to learn and explore, place to enjoy without a rush , I came before opening hours , can be really busy , castle has a big shop and places to eat , is like spending day tiny settlement, I like Ireland, you guys have amazing castles and amazing food , 5 stars for for everything
We had a lovely day strolling around this folk village and castle at Bunratty. It was really interesting and really takes you back in time. There are places to eat , shop for gifts , toilet facilities, plenty of parking...The weather was also fantastic which always helps. We spent a good 3 to 4 hours here enjoying it and taking it all in. It is well maintained and plenty of signs all around the walkways. I think it was well worth the money for the visit of the folk village and castle..
We visited this wee as I had visited as a kid and always wanted to see it as an adult. At 36 euro for 2 adults, it is extremely well priced as you can spend all day here if you wish. We arrived around 11am and the crowds were busy but not overly full. The staff onsite are brilliant and so knowledgeable and eager to share their experience. There was a live blacksmith forging whilst we were there and it was great to see the ways of old. With the village set up of old to keep you interested all the way through the park, it is a very enjoyable experience to see how our ancestors lived. A highly recommended place to visit.
Stopped on way from Galway to Killarney. Glad we didn’t go out of our way to visit. It’s an odd selection of buildings with a lot selling tourist trinkets. Highlight was blacksmith forge, interesting to watch guy work. Very little information about exhibits, all felt a bit random. Other reviews talk about people in period costume, which we didn’t see. Probably better with a guide.
A really interesting experience Just the right balance of information and experiences - the wolfhounds were a great hit
I have passed by many times and have not been there in years. I had some family visiting the area and decided to go in. We went in at twilight. I was told there was a discount because the castle was closed at four o'clock. I was disappointed as some of the shops were closed as well, not just the castle. I paid €52 for two adults, three children, and one carer. I would have been better off booking a family ticket and going during the day, but you live and learn. Apart from that, I had a great time. It's very nice to see, the park is quite big with lots of animals and very interesting information and history.
Beautiful castle, accurately restored. Very capable Italian guide in medieval clothing. Fascinating village.
Thoroughly enjoyable few hours at the folk park. Loved the staff in character which I felt added something special to the experience.
