Victor was an absolutely AMAZING guide! Funny, knowledgeable and damn right entertaining! The trip was perfect for a short afternoon. Bonorong is small but plenty to do. Also managed to catch the free tour for about 30 minutes which gave insight into some of the animals.

Excellent tour, excellent experience. It was a worthwhile journey to Richmond. What a wonderful place!
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We're thrilled to hear you had an excellent tour and an excellent experience. Richmond truly is a special place, and it’s great to know the journey felt worthwhile and memorable for you. From the moment you arrive, this place feels truly magical. The staff are warm, passionate, and incredibly knowledgeable, making you feel like a welcome guest rather than just a visitor. What sets this experience apart is the freedom to explore at your own pace—wandering through the grounds and forming genuine connections with the animals along the way. The diversity of wildlife is astonishing, and the on-site animal hospital, open for guests to observe, offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at conservation in action. Seeing a live Tasmanian devil up close was unforgettable, but the absolute highlight was hand-feeding the kangaroos—gentle, curious, and completely enchanting. This isn’t just a visit; it’s an immersive, once-in-a-lifetime experience that will stay with you long after you leave. A must-see for anyone who truly loves animals.
Hi Jill, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a warm and heart felt review. Your description captures exactly what we hope every guest feels on this tour: welcomed, unhurried, and able to connect with Tasmania’s wildlife in a way that feels personal and meaningful. Knowing that the warmth of the staff, the freedom to explore, and the chance to witness real conservation work all resonated with you is incredibly rewarding. Thank you again for sharing such a generous, beautifully written review.
Shaun, our driver/guide was really helpful and respectful. I found out that Richmond has quite a history and learned a lot about Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, they are doing great!
Thank you for your lovely review. We’re delighted to hear Shaun made the tour enjoyable and that you learned so much at both Richmond and Bonorong. They really do incredible work, and it’s great to know the experience resonated with you.
Half a day trip - but well worth the time spent. Specially, if you're animal and nature lover. Also, the historical Richmond visit is an added bonus.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re so glad you found the Bonorong and Richmond afternoon tour worthwhile. It’s a great mix of wildlife, nature, and a touch of history, and we’re happy you enjoyed both parts of the experience.
Our guide was informative and pleasant! He even made sure we got to see the animals we wanted.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! We're delighted to hear that your guide made the day both informative and enjoyable, and that you were able to see the animals you were most excited about. We hope to welcome you back to soon.
Richmond is a very nice, small town. We found nice souvenirs in the gift shop at the Goal (old jail) without actually going through the jail. Small area across street has nice coffee shop, wine shop, etc. The wildlife sanctuary is nice, only issue was too crowded on our tour do to cruise ship and holiday.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re really glad to hear you enjoyed exploring Richmond — it’s such a charming little town, and the shops around the old Gaol are always a favourite for finding unique souvenirs, coffee, and local treats. We’re also pleased you enjoyed your visit to the wildlife sanctuary. It’s a wonderful place, though we completely understand how the experience can feel a bit crowded on days when cruise ships and holidays overlap. Unfortunately, those peak moments can be hard to avoid, but we’re glad you were still able to enjoy the visit. Thanks again for joining us, and we hope the rest of your time in Tasmania was just as enjoyable.
The van taking us from Hobart to Richmond and Bonorong was not very spacious, we had little comfort in the seats and the driver was not being very cautious. When we got to Richmond, were access to the gaol comes with a fee, we also did get a coupon that would reduce the entrance price but nodbody explained this, so we paid the full price. The Bonorong visit was great!
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed your visit to Bonorong — it’s always a highlight for many guests. We’re sorry to hear the vehicle didn’t feel as spacious or comfortable as you expected. All our vehicles are modern and specifically selected for safety and comfort, and we operate a fleet of the highest standard. For anyone wishing to see the quality of the vehicles we use, our full fleet is available to view on our website. Unlike many operators, we invest heavily in carefully training our driver‑guides, and every vehicle is electronically monitored, with management notified in real time of any breach in driving style. Safety and professionalism are always our top priorities. Regarding the Richmond discount vouchers, these are provided to all guests and are designed to be self‑explanatory, outlining both the discount offered and where they can be used. We’re sorry if this wasn’t clear on the day. Thank you again for joining us — we appreciate your feedback and are pleased that Bonorong was a memorable part of your tour.
Afternoon trip was good, but would have been better with a little more time at both Richmond and Bonorong. Richmond is a pretty little place with some interesting souvenir shops, a great pub plus of course the prison. Unfortunately, the wombats didn't make an appearance the day we visited, but the Tassie Devils and the Kangas were great to see. Alan who was our driver that afternoon was excellent with lots of interesting information to share.
Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s lovely to hear that you enjoyed the afternoon and that Alan made the trip so engaging with his knowledge and commentary. Richmond and Bonorong both offer so much to explore, so your feedback about wanting a little more time at each stop is really helpful. Even without the wombats making an appearance, it’s great that the Tassie devils and kangaroos made the visit memorable.
