El zoológico Werribee Open Range es el hogar de cientos de animales raros y exóticos, así como de criaturas nativas australianas, todos ellos viven en amplios recintos naturales. Safari!

We enjoyed our time here - though short. The free safari tour was good - you got to see amazing animals through an open sided vehicle. The private ones let you spend more time and get closer so consider that option too. We’d prob choose that if we are able to go back. The park itself is easy to walk around and see the animals. In the exhibits we got to we were able to see animals moving in all of them.

Open Range Zoo Experience

It is about good to see the animals from open range vehicle. But the trip is too short I think. Expected can explore more by that vehicle in the zoo. But so far, It's worth to do this activity once in your Melbourne visit.

Happy animals, happy kids

This zoo has all the animals expected to see at a zoo; lions, zebra, giraffes and gorillas. We walked around the walks checking out the animals, until we got to the train safari station. The bus/train safari was included in the price of the ticket, and takes about 30 minutes to complete its circuit. Some of the enclosures were under maintenance so we didn't see those animals but there was still plenty to see along the way. Kids loved it, sitting at the front of the bus/train watching from the windows. We spied lots of wildlife, including elephants, zebra and various types of antelope. Toilet facilities are okay and the food prices are reasonable for ice-creams and coffees. There's no smoking throughout so you'll need to go out via the gift shop (get a stamp) to have a smoke - which I have no problem with. The zoo looks like it's kept well and the animals look happy enough.

Earl, made our tour!

We visited Werribee Open Range on a very wet day, not expecting much. We took the Safari Tour with Earl. He is a fountain of knowledge, sharing lots of great info. But his Dad jokes, they are BAD 😊😉🤣 He pointed out lots of great facts and it was clear he loves animals. Thank you Earl, you really made our day. We went into the Meerkat Cafe afterwards for tea and cake. Delicious cakes and the young staff taking orders from good. However, the older lady at the coffee station is so rude, she needs some very basic customer service training. She was particularly rude to an older lady, walking away from her as the lady was speaking to her. Apart from this, we would highly recommend a visit to Werribee. Their conservation efforts are so important and your visit helps this very worthy cause.

Come early

I came in on a Senior's ticket with family members. We went straight to our ride on the Safari Bus and were glad we arrived very early. By the time we were leaving the car parking extended back over 500m from where we were and the queues for the ride grew quite long, as it was there about five buses, each with three passenger trailers. From the ride we saw the big African plains animals up close (Giraffe, Zebra, Rhino, Ostrich, plus deer, and antelope). The walking was quite strenuous around this large Zoo (you could do 5km to see everything). Some animals were off exhibition on this day (Cheetah, wild dogs). Others were out of sight (Gorillas). My best advice for catering is to bring your own food and drink. We went to the Meerkat Bistro for lunch. The Meerkats were not observed and the sandwiches were not long out of the fridge. The quality was not good and the serving size was small.

The new elephant enclosure is a must see.

This is my favourite Victorian Zoo. What a wonderful place to spend the day with the children . The new elephant enclosure is amazing and it is a must see . It has a long walking trail to get there and the kids love the adventure of trying to spot the elephants . They have a big area for children to play , coffee shops and other amenities in that area. The Safari is always a must and it’s amazing seeing all the animals up so close . This is a wonderful zoo and one we never get bored of going to see .

Great Day

We had a great day, we went midweek and it was not crowded. Friendly staff members, had a great time driving through where the giraffes and rhinos are located, that was probably the best part of the day. New elephant space will look amazing once completed.
