Interesting if you're a fan of Bob Marley's music..

We visited Bob Marley 9 Mile on a combo tour from Montego Bay, that also took us to Dunn's River Falls. After the Falls, we went for lunch at Ocho Rios, and then headed up the mountains to 9 Mile. It was interesting to see the countryside (I wish the windows of the bus were not that dirty). Upon arrival at 9 Mile, we were told we were waiting for our guide (but the guide was already sitting there). Obviously to try and get us to buy drinks at the bar ($10 for a shot, and you keep the shot glass as a souvenir). Some people in our group chose to smoke, others did not. Once the guide decided to get up and start the tour (after about 20 minutes), we went up the stairs, where a lady was selling candles to burn in Bob Marley's memory. They were $1. We moved through the house, where he gave us a bit of info on Bob Marley and the family. Then we moved to the mausoleum area. We had to remove our shoes to enter the mausoleum. Photos are not allowed inside. A very short tour. I found it to be an interesting tour but the push for tips is off-putting.. honestly, I would probably give more if I wasn't pressured to give.. If you're a fan of Bob Marley's music, you will appreciate the tour.

This was yet another fabulous experience not to be missed when visiting this amazingly beautiful island the views are spectacular and seeing Bob marleys final resting place is surreal also the place he was born and his room.no pics of his resting place as respect has to be paid to this giant of reggae a must see also the shot at the end is a must have

One Love xxx

How can you visit Jamaica and not visit this? Benjamin was our guide and he was fantastic we laughed the whole way round he was such a great guide! but he also had the most fantastic knowledge of Bobs history and his family. I didn’t expect to feel so humbled and emotional but something about this place and its history hits a nerve. Such a special place which will remain with me and my husband forever. I feel honoured to have spent time at this legends home. A truly magical place xx One Love xxxx

DISGRACE to the memory of Bob Marley

This place is a DISGRACE to Bob Marley’s memory we visited on 27th October 2024 and felt the majority of staff were on 1 big scam. The woman selling candles to make a wish in Bob’s memory conveniently didn’t have enough change to give people when they had purchased a candle. Then we started the tour and they are trying to force weed on you and overpriced Temu and eBay T-shirts and selling them at $150 USD. The guy who took us on a tour then called us all stingy with the tips we gave him after the tour and unknowing at the time he forced someone in our group who had learning difficulties to give him a bigger tip which he removed himself for the vulnerable persons wallet. We had ordered food before the tour a man took our order we ate the food only to be charged $45 USD by a woman who had no till or receipts and was just charging what she wanted. The chicken was no bigger than 3 kfc wings. Purely a SCAM our driver even called them up after the tour to give them a piece of his mind because he knew we had been scammed. This is a DiSGRACE to the memory of Bob Marley and the family need to investigate this place. These people are thieves.

September Tour

Tour was a bit disorganised, lacked any structure or real insight. A Jamaican shot at the bar was $10!, it did include the shot glass. If you not. fan of weed/Ganga - don't go. Tipping is heavily expected, from the tour guide and the band.

Buyer beware of the lunch!

First time review: My group of 16 visited the amazing Bob Marley 9 mile. After the tour, we had lunch and this is the only part of the experience that was extremely poor! They sat us all down and took our orders. It took 1.5 hours! Yes 1.5 hours for the food to hit our tables. The food was cold and it was completely mixed up. I asked the waitress why it took so long and she said “there is only 1 person making all of the food” and she as the waitress doesn’t even work in this side and normally does the tours. She also said that since the recent hurricane there hasn’t been much power and short staff. I said that for all of that they should just close down the restaurant part rather than have 1 person cook all that food. They also said that most tours just leave and go eat outside the property. Another thing they should’ve mentioned because I said that if we would’ve known half of that information, we collectively would’ve eaten elsewhere and not waste everyone’s time! I also asked if there was a way for a discount which we then had to go for a walk and find a manager which they didn’t have on site and they told me that we have to pay full for the food and no exceptions!! I again say this to all planing on going, DO NOT! DO NOT eat at the restaurant! 0% Hospitality!! Oh and they also said they would call the cops if we didn’t pay! ….but enjoy the history of Bob Marley’s remarkable family, his contributions to the world of music and the pride he brought to his island nation. Just eat before or after you go!

Highly recommended

Our tour guide Archie-if you don’t get Archie, you don’t have anyone. Be sure to have cash for tips! Lunch at the restaurant was delicious and the rum punch is strong!

Magical memories of Nine Mile ❤️💛💚

The whole experience was amazing, but entering the gates to mount Zion and being at Bobs sacred mausoleum was a truly spiritual and humbling moment 🥰🦁❤️💛💚🙏🏽

Ugh...

The road to get there is interesting through the mountains, beautiful landscapes, extreme poverty. Rough and winding road for at least an hour and a half. When we arrived, there were drug sellers all around the car, like vultures. Upon entering we are asked to wait for the guide to take the tour, of course we wait next to a souvenir shop and a bar. Then we have to stay with the guide all the way. Bob Marley story well told. Then we wait again where there is a souvenir counter, spices, bar, etc. A band plays Bob Marley with a tip box. We stay there for a good 15 minutes waiting before leaving. We visit the chapel, Bob's house, and the place where he is buried. You are not allowed to take photos inside. And there you have it, the visit is over. Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes Admission $20 US, more if you buy things and tip the guide, the band, make a donation for the village, etc., etc.

Thoroughly recommend

A truly amazing place. Our guide was very informative. There is a lot of memorabilia relating to Bob Marley and his family. You do get offered drugs but this is not in any way pushed at you - just the Rastafarian culture. We visited his Mausoleum - photography is not allowed in there. A very memorable day.
