Entertainment was great! Food was great! There were several gluten free options for my daughter to choose from. It is often hard to find a place to eat that offers gluten free options other than salads. I was surprised to have to pay for parking at the resort where the luau occurred. I believe parking should be included. The only other negative I have is the seating is in a parking area beside the resort and the pavement slants. I was afraid I was going to slide into the person sitting below me. That part was very uncomfortable. For the most part, my family enjoyed our first luau.
The show seemed too short for price. Buffet style meal meant waiting in long line for food that didn't seem warm enough. Encouraged to go back but food was put away quickly at start of show. Tried to get utensils for dessert and all was put away. After show it felt like "bums rush" to leave area ! Chairs being stacked and removed as soon as people got up! We had many cameras on selfie sticks being held in front of us at our table which made viewing difficult.
Good food and a good show. Not much else to say about this. Thank you very much and go if you can…..
This is such a great luau. Second time I have done this one and does not disappoint! Great food! Great show! Non alcoholic drinks are better than the included alcoholic ones - but that is the worst I can say. I would definitely recommend this luau as a must do!
Great first luau experience!! We read a lot of reviews saying this was the best one and while I have nothing to compare it to, it truly exceeded my expectations. Dancers and music was fantastic and food was really good and plenty of choice!!
Food was great. Even better than expected. Especially the kaluau pig and rib eye. Entertaining show.
First of all, I would never suggest booking this luau through a second party. The communication from the second party indicated to us that if was a rain “ if the luau is canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date, if available, or a refund. But I started getting text from the luau stating that if it rained, they were gonna move it indoors cause it had been raining that day and then their payout for rain was ridiculously tiny like 25% and it moved up to the most I think was 50%. The food was very good at night as well as the entertainment, but I felt like they could’ve also accommodated people with younger children to tables a little to the stage. We had a set spot since there was six of us, but we had two kids that were nine so it was hard for them tosee about some of the adults in front of them the show. They could’ve easily accommodated people with small children towards the front more as our seats were reserved. Anyway this could’ve been done without having to pay VIP prices to sit the closest to the stage.
Aloha Mary, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the food and entertainment, but we're sorry that certain aspects of your experience did not meet your expectations. Regarding our rainy day policy, because we are located on a tropical island, weather can change quickly. We do our best to continue offering the full luau experience whenever possible, even during inclement weather. Our rainy day policy is included in every confirmation email so guests know what to expect before arriving. If weather requires us to move indoors, guests still enjoy the same dining experience and full dance performance. The only portion that cannot be presented indoors is the traditional Imu ceremony, which is why a partial discount is offered in those circumstances. We also appreciate your comments about seating. Our stage is elevated to help ensure that guests throughout the venue, including children, have a clear view of the performance. VIP seating is priced higher because those seats are reserved in advance and are located in the front section. General Admission seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and we encourage guests who would like a closer view without purchasing VIP seating to arrive early for the best available seats. Thank you again for your feedback. We value hearing from our guests and will continue looking for ways to improve the experience for everyone. Warmest aloha, Royal Kona Resort
The food is amazing and the dancers are very skilled. However we got sat behind a tree and couldn’t see very well.
The food is amazing! Lots of options. Sea food, steak, and pork. I don’t eat pork so I was relieved when there were other options. Don’t buy VIP, general admission are good seats too. They sat us in front with general admission. This was my 3rd Luau, and had the best food by far! I recommend it.
Food was great! Much better than expected and all was delicious and so many options! Cocktails are VERY watered down, the liquor itself must be diluted because I even got one from the bar and watched him pour the liquor but it was barely detected by taste! So stick to wine or else you are just drinking sugar in the cocktails. Show was basic luau. The fire dancer is the best part at the end. Wish the show past got started sooner in the whole experience though, took a long time for the entertainment to start and therefore the kids got impatient. Overall good basic luau experience with great food.
Aloha, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your luau experience. We're so pleased to hear you enjoyed the food and found it exceeded your expectations. Our culinary team works hard to provide a delicious variety of island-inspired dishes, and we're glad that stood out to you. We also appreciate your comments regarding the cocktails and the pacing of the evening's entertainment. Guest feedback like yours helps us identify opportunities to improve the overall experience, especially for families with young children. We're happy to hear the fire knife performance was a highlight of the show. Thank you again for joining us. We hope to welcome you back for another evening of great food, entertainment, and aloha on your next visit. Mahalo, Royal Kona Resort Customer Satisfaction Team
