The guide never showed up for our tour. I was not able to get ahold of anyone via email, text or phone. This was very disappointing because we wasted several hours of our time in Basel getting there and waiting, when we had such a short time there.
Wonderful tour! Despite the temperature in Basel being 100F, Carlos was a terrific guide. He shared very interesting information about the history of the city and made adjustments to accommodate the limited walking ability on one of the participants. We didn't spend much time at the farmers' market because of the heat, but that gave us more time for cheese and chocolate! I didn't know there was so many steps involved in making the products, and the multiple samples kept us very invested in the demonstration. I highly recommend!
Elaine Ward 15 Jun 2026, 16:40 (11 days ago) to Customer Hi I feel I need to complain about the tour I booked on my recent trip to Basel. Described as Farmers market , Cheese, Chocolate and Pastry tour ,our guide was Lincoln who was very pleasant and gave us good information when we visited the cathedral and the farmers market. But we were expecting as described in your information to be taken to Cheese Chocolate and Pastry Shops . Our 1st stop was a bakery where the lady inside obviously wasn’t expecting us . She was very rude and reluctantly gave us a very small piece of Swiss spiced biscuit . Next we went to a cheese shop which was almost empty of any product , a guy explained about the cheese of which we had 5 small samples and a bread stick and 4 chocolates . The tour took 2 hours and for at least 45 minutes of that time we in the shop . This tour was not what was expected and was not worth £87 per person and we felt completely ripped off
We started out on time but the cheese and chocolate part was delayed which put us off our next activity. Lincoln was great guide!
This was to be a cheese, chocolate and pastry tour at 12:45. Got an email the day before that there was no chocolatiers available except in the morning. My attempts to contact the company to reschedule did not work. When I finally reached the company I rescheduled for only chocolate at 1:00. It was awesome but I missed out on cheese and pastry portion
Good tour but guide was late as she had overlapping tours. We almost left. The farmers market was disappointing as we looked at it from across the street and didn't get to see the vendors or produce. Not much of a market tour when that was the main item.
Your started out well through the first food tasting at the bakery but went downhill from there. The guide was on her phone quite a bit after that. Took the trolley to a cheese tasting room across town, then another trolley to a chocolate tasting. The chocolate tasting location seemed surprised we were there. The guide left before the tasting started disappeared. We had to navigate ourselves back to where the tour began.
Do NOT book this tour. My ticket gave conflicting meeting point addresses. We messaged our tour guide 45 minutes before the tour asking fir meeting place confirmation. They didn't respond, I tred to call twice without answer. After chatting with Viator they contacted the your guide 20 minutes into the tour. We paid over $200 USD to spend nearly 2 hours trying to join this tour. I requested a refund it was denied. I've visited many countries and booked many tours as this without issue. I would like my money refunded.
This was an excellent walking tour of Basel. Gina, our guide, was terrific. She was very knowledgeable and overall a wonderful guide. The tour took us through the farmers market, which was right across from the historic and architecturally beautiful Basel city hall, then into the old city part of Basel. Gina pointed out and explained lots of beautiful details on the buildings, many of which are centuries old. We ended with a delicious cheese and chocolate tasting. Once again, Gina showed her expertise on both. It was a leisurely walk and not very strenuous. Overall it was terrific, definitely 10/10. Highly recommended!
Disappointed with the entire experience. We stopped at one pastry were given a pastry to go. We did not realize we would be going to a cheese and chocolate that gave tiny portions. Not worth the cost. Seemed like it was more about small tastes so we would buy more from the guide.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. We regret that the format and structure of the tastings did not align with what you were expecting from a food tour. Our experience is designed around tastings at selected local artisan partners, including pastry, cheese, and chocolate, as well as a visit through the farmers market, with the intention of offering guests a sampling of regional Swiss specialties within the tour timeframe. To clarify, the cheese and chocolate tasting location is not owned or operated by the guide. It is a local artisan shop that we partner with as part of the tour itinerary. We understand your concerns regarding portion sizes and overall value perception, and we are sorry that the experience felt more limited than expected. This is not the impression we aim to create, and your feedback will be reviewed with our team to help improve both the clarity of our tour description and the guest experience. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts, as they are valuable in helping us refine our tours going forward.
