This experience was deeply disappointing and fell far short of what was advertised. I am writing this to warn other families and to request a full refund, including the unused National Park fees. ### Issues Encountered: * **Poor Communication:** The meeting point was not within walking distance of the port, and we received no instructions regarding transportation. Despite arriving at the stated 9:00 AM start time, staff repeatedly treated us as if we were late and responsible for time constraints. * **Unsafe Equipment:** The jeep provided to us had a low-gas warning throughout the entire 45-minute drive. Other guests reported non-functional speedometers, which the staff dismissed as "not a problem." * **Misleading Itinerary:** The tour group was disorganized, mixing participants from various ships with different departure times. The sites we visited did not match the promotional photos. We were shown stagnant ponds rather than the promised cenotes, and the guide provided discouraging information about crocodiles to steer us away from swimming. * **Failed Deliverables:** Ultimately, we did not visit the cenotes, we did not snorkel, and we were not provided the promised lunch. Due to the guide's mismanagement of our time, we were forced to choose between a severely shortened 20-minute snorkel session or skipping it entirely. We chose to skip it, and were pressured to sign a waiver regarding our time. * **Lack of Value:** The drive was long, hot, and through an uninteresting area with no informative narration or historical context to make the excursion worthwhile. As a regular user of third-party cruise excursions, I have always had positive experiences, but this was my first time booking for my children and it was a complete failure. I feel misled by the tour description and the management of the trip. Given that we did not receive the services or experiences advertised, I am requesting a full refund for the tour and the National Park fees collected.
Couldn't find where we were supposed to meet up, so eventually we were 15 mins late. The security guy & another guy from one of the shops were so good in trying to find who exactly we were supposed to be going with. We tried phoning several times & it would be cut off so we couldn't get anyone to help us. At exactly 1 hour after we were supposed to go on the tour after paying €200+ one of the tour operators rocks up & says sorry, they're gone. I asked could we possibly link up. No you cannot link up with them, next one is at 12 o'clock which he knows fine well we cannot go on because the ship embarkment time is not enough. So we had no choice but to walk away., so we are down a couple hundred euro. And when we double checked the itinerary they had added in a visit to a museum that never ever would I have booked with the kids .I would just say to any other travellers yes, try to be on time, if not on time be early. But also on the flip side we found another company to do the same things so we were out the same amount of money, they were absolutely fantastic & we had an absolute blast, the guy from the taxi to the tour guide were fantastic, and believe it or not guess what company we met going in as we were going out????? Yes!! The very same & there we were a few kilometers down the road!! So shout out to Friendly Tours, they were fantastic.
Our guide was great. Reasonably priced, tequila tasting was amazing. Great time with my wife and friends.
They did take us to the jade cave as the tour promised for some reason without telling us in advance. We were very disappointed since this was the very reason we picked the tour. I wish we can get some credit back such as cave admission tickets.
One of the worst experiences I’ve had with an excursion abroad. Poor customer service. Poor communication.
Super fun! The guide is extremely nice and even took us back to our resort for free! Super informative as well.
Absolutely the best tour. Would do it again in a hot minute. Our guide was fantastic, the cenotes beautiful, tequila tasting exceptional and the restaurant (more shack than fancy) had the best seafood ever. Recommend 1000%.
The instructions for the meeting place were not great a picture would have helped. The jeep takes usually 4 people. I went with a couple and the guy and myself shared the driving. Looking a Mayan burial caves in the jungle. It has recently rained so it was muddy. We went after that to a swimming hole and had to get there on foot through the mud. After that to the beach snorkeling but you have to have your own gear which was never mentioned. There was no actual beach only rocks. Recommended but not highly
The tour cancelled the snorkel portion we were counting on so disappointed. The Mayan cave portion was corny and made up. 20% of our time was spent at a tequila tasting. For us, a total waste of time that was not advertised in the ad. Basically, we spent most of our time driving around in a jeep caravan. Not worth your time. Check out other companies. You’ll fare better.
We booked our excursion as something to do while in port at Cozumel. We had a good time on the Jeep tour, be prepared with water shoes it does get a little wet for nice shoes. We were able to go places we may not have been able to without this tour. Our guide Bibi was excellent.
