Aventura de pesca de salmón Ketchikan

My wife and I wanted to skip the cruise ship excursions during our port day in Ketchikan. Since we love to fish, my wife found Alaska King Fishing Charter online and booked after a great phone call, trusting their 35+ years of family-owned experience. Her choice completely blew away our expectations! The logistics were seamless. Our captain, Moses, was waiting right at the dock with a massive smile the moment we stepped off the cruise ship. The clean, organized boat was less than 100 yards away and stocked with snacks and drinks. Moses gave us a choice between keeping fish or heading to a catch-and-release spot with more action, on our half day trip. We chose the action, and boy did he deliver! Within minutes, we both had fish on the line. We caught a total of 7 King Salmon—each at least 20 lbs—including a monster 38-inch fish weighing over 40 lbs! The wildlife was spectacular, featuring whales, and numerous eagles swooping just 20 yards away. But the absolute best part of the trip was Moses himself. As a Native Alaskan, his unbridled enthusiasm kept us stoked all day. He was funny, professional, and shared beautiful stories about his family, culture, and growing up in Alaska. He is truly an inspiring, all-around decent human being. Props to my wife for picking the perfect local charter. We cannot recommend Alaska King Charter and Moses enough!

We had a great time, we called last second after arriving from our cruise in Ketchikan and they picked us up within 15 mins. We had a tight schedule and the captain worked within these parameters and we caught several huge kings and had us back with time to spare. It was a very enjoyable trip with some great first time memories made and definetely will be using them the next time we are in Ketchikan.

We booked a 4 hour salmon fishing trip and had the best time. Kevin our captain/guide picked us up literally right next to our cruise ship, and he was waiting for us as we walked off the ship. The boat was in great shape and clean. After a short ride Kevin got us set up on downriggers to troll for salmon. The boat is equipped with Garmin gps/fish finders so Kevin knew how deep we should be fishing. Within minutes of dropping our lines we had our first fish on. We hit mostly pinks, but did catch some baby kings (had to throw them back) and my daughter got a decent silver. We also got a Little Rock fish. There were times we had 2 fish on at once, and another time while bringing in a fish a whale surfaced next to us! Overall a great trip. We could only do 4 hours due to our cruise schedule but would recommend 6 hours if you have time because it is so great.

When we planned our Alaska vacation, I knew my husband and two sons would want to fish — but I didn’t expect it to be such an amazing experience! From the moment I booked our charter, everything was easy. The person who answered the phone was friendly and informative, and when fishing day came, it only got better. Our skipper, Justin, is hands down one of the coolest people we’ve ever met. He was easy to talk to, clearly knew his stuff, and treated our 10- and 12-year-old boys with respect, like they were part of the crew. Even though the fishing started out slow, Justin went above and beyond to make the day memorable. The boys caught sablefish, and by the end of the day — salmon! We were all thrilled, and so was Justin. It’s rare to see someone genuinely happy to make kids’ dreams come true, but that’s exactly how Justin is. We had such a great time that we’re already planning a trip back to Ketchikan next summer just to fish with him again. We highly recommend Alaska King Charter - especially Justin!

5 stars all the way ***** Kevin took us out salmon fishing. He knew the area very well and our family of 4 was very comfortable on this boat. We caught so many fish, we had to stop fishing because we had reached our limit! Bonus was the many bald eagles we saw during our adventure, including one flying right over our boat very low. It was a beautiful trip, and Kevin was able to dock his boat basically directly behind our cruise ship, which made for a very convenient pick-up and drop-off.

We had Kevin as our captain, who was amazing and fully of local knowledge. When we started out a little slow due to the tidal waters going out, you could see his frustration to the slow start. We soon hauled in 10 Silver Salmon and 2 Rock Fish. We caught 2x that amount, but those Silver's are slippery! We also had a Bald Eagle flying no more than 10 feet off the deck of the boat. Incredible day on the water! Highly Recommend this outfit and ask for Kevin!! Stay away from the Cruise Line tours - book on your own for a personalized and more exciting experience!

We had a great time with Captain Mike! We originally planned to fish for salmon, but he recommended we fish for cod and halibut as salmon fishing hadn’t been very good recently. We got a ton of cod, an unexpected shark and halibut, and our anchor caught a halibut! Mike was super chill and helpful and knowledgeable and we 6 of us had a great time!

Justin was awesome! Never went more than 10 minutes without a fish, great energy and attitude which made it a great stop in Ketchikan for us and our 3 boys! Highly recommend Justin!

Epic 3 hours with Captain Mike! In the first five minutes we landed my 35lb King, then never went more than 15 minutes without another salmon, landing 4 big Silvers, 5 Pink, 1 Chum, and several other Kings that we released. We quit 1 hour early because we had enough!!

It was and amazing experience. Kevin was a great guide and had us catching fish the minute the line was in the water. Watching my kids catch a salmon for the first time was truly a once in a life time experience.
