Amazing experience with an incredible guide-Deniz. Truly made our experience unforgettable
This event was such a disappointment. We walked for 1 hour before we sat down to a tasting! The food was okay at best. Then we walked for another half hour to a very disappointing meal of the same thing. Melted cheese over ham and a small salad. This was not a tasting of the region or even good food. I thought it would be a fun way to celebrate my sister’s birthday and it was beyond disappointing. I have written several reviews for TripAdvisor and never have I felt this disappointed.
Hello, We thank you for your feedback and we are sorry if our tour didn't match your expectations. We take each comment very seriously to improve our customers' satisfaction rate. However, I would like to clarify some points that may be useful for our future guests. It is clear on both Viator and TripAdvisor that our experience is a walking food tour, and the itinerary is provided beforehand on the websites. Therefore, walking around the city is an important part of our experience, in order to provide a deeper insight of the city and not just a list of restaurants. Concerning the food selection, we're sorry to read that you you found it disappointing. However, we would like to highlight that the selection includes a truffle product tasting, an apéritif with charcuterie and wine, a main dish that's the croque monsieur with truffle and a local dessert. Every tasting is selected to showcase the variety of regional (truffle, provençal herbs) and French (charcuterie, croque monsieur...) cuisine. Our guide, who was one of our most experienced guides, also got the time to show you some additional and non-foreseen stops, like calissons and chocolate, in order to provide an in-depth idea of Provençal gastronomy. Again, we're sorry that the experience didn't match your expectations and we remain available for any further inquiry. Kind regards Do Eat Better Team
We had a fantastic walking tour of Aix-en-Provence with our guide, Renaud. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience both fun and informative. Along the way, we tasted delicious local specialties, including truffles, cheese, charcuterie, and chocolate. Renaud also shared fascinating stories about the history of Aix and gave us excellent suggestions for other things to see and do during our stay. It was a wonderful introduction to the city and one of the highlights of our visit. We highly recommend this tour!
We loved our food tour! Renauld was knowledgeable, kind, and seemed to have a personal relationship with the shops we visited. He continued to check in with us to make sure we were happy. The perfect mix of food and history. I’d highly recommend!
Friendly tour guide. Felt as though with all the amazing cuisine/places that we could have enjoyed, the tour left a little more to be desired. But the final step was definitely worth it!
Thank you for your kind words! We're glad you enjoyed the guide and that the final stop made the tour memorable. We appreciate your feedback about the itinerary and will keep it in mind as we continue improving the experience. We hope to welcome you again!
It was such a great way to see Aix-en-Provence. We had the best guide. He gave us so many recommendations for the day and he was so knowledgeable. It was just the 2 of us and we had the best time. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to see Aix and try some good food!
We booked this food tour for our family and it was amazing. Thaïs was a phenomenal guide! We learned so much more than expected on the food tour and Thaïs was so knowledgeable and helpful about everything. Would definitely recommend, it was so much fun!
We were so fortunate to have our guide, Thais, showing us the details and beautiful history of Aix. Besides getting the sample delicious food, we gained a deep understanding I appreciation for this beautiful city and its role in French history. Would highly recommend for anybody looking for a combination of delicious food sampling, and local history of Provence! .
Renauld was amazing!! He left a strong impression and we can’t recommend him enough. He is personable, hospitable and caring; patient and informative. He extended our 3 hour tour because we wanted to try a few more morsels. And seemingly he knows everyone and has an endless knowledge of the city.
Here's a balanced review that acknowledges the positives while making your concern clear. We enjoyed the food tour overall and left with very full stomachs. Every food stop was enjoyable, and our guide, Ingrid, was warm, friendly, and welcoming. However, the tour was advertised as including "tasty stuffs and historical anecdotes about the streets and places," and that was not our experience. While the food was excellent, there was very little information shared about the history of Aix-en-Provence, the streets we walked, the local culture, or the origins and significance of the foods we sampled. We were hoping to learn why these places and foods were important, but the tour focused almost entirely on eating from one stop to the next. If you're looking for a food tasting experience, this tour delivers. If you're expecting the combination of food and historical storytelling described in the advertisement, you may come away disappointed. We hope the company either provides guides with more historical knowledge or adjusts the description so that it better reflects the experience being offered.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the food and that Ingrid made you feel welcome throughout the tour. We're sorry the experience didn't fully match your expectations. Our tours are designed to focus primarily on the local food scene, with historical and cultural insights shared along the way rather than as a traditional history tour. We appreciate your comments and will certainly take them into consideration as we continue to improve both our tours and how we describe them. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future.
