Recorre 2.000 años de historia en esta excursión guiada en bicicleta de 2,5 horas por el casco antiguo de Lyon, declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO. Comience en el Grand Hôtel-Dieu, un hospital del siglo XII convertido en hotel, antes de contemplar la Basílica de Notre-Dame de Fourvière mirando la ciudad desde la cima de su colina. Sube a La Croix-Rousse, el empinado barrio de tejido de seda donde los traboules dejaron que los trabajadores movieran telas durante la lluvia, parando luego en un mural que traza dos milenios de historia de Lyon. Descienda a pie hasta la Place des Terreaux y su Fuente Bartholdi, pasando por el Palacio de Justicia en el Saona, y hasta la Catedral Saint-Jean-Baptiste, donde un reloj del siglo XIV todavía marca la hora. Cross Place Bellecour, una de las plazas peatonales más grandes de Europa, antes de terminar en La Confluence, donde se encuentran el Ródano y Saona. ¡Este impresionante monumento fue construido en 1184 y sirvió como hospital durante más de 800 años! Ahora un hotel de 5 estrellas y un centro comercial, estas paredes contienen muchas historias de relatos históricos y leyendas.
Admira la basílica desde la cima de su colina, símbolo perdurable del horizonte de Lyon.
La Croix-Rousse y sus pistas están catalogadas como patrimonio de la UNESCO. La Croix-Rousse es el antiguo barrio obrero de Lyon que albergaba a los Canuts (o trabajadores de la seda de Lyon).
Este fresco terminado en 1995 representa 2000 años de historia con 25 personajes históricos y 6 contemporáneos de Lyon. Algunas de las representaciones más notables son las de los hermanos Lumière, Antoine de St-Exupéry y el Principito y Paul Bocuse.
La plaza más hermosa de todo Lyon alberga el Ayuntamiento, el Museo de Bellas Artes y la impresionante Fuente Bartholdi. Sirve como el lugar perfecto para tomar fotografías, conocer historias y leyendas interesantes, y también hacer una pausa y tomar una copa.
El Palacio de Justicia y su pasarela son una combinación de dos lugares emblemáticos de la ciudad. Desde la pasarela los visitantes pueden ver a lo largo y ancho del río Soane en el corazón de la ciudad.
Situada en el corazón del casco antiguo, esta catedral es una estructura impresionante. Construido durante tres siglos a partir de 1175, tiene una mezcla de estilos gótico y románico y cuenta con un reloj astronómico del siglo XVI.
Como la plaza peatonal más grande de Europa, la Place Bellecour está rodeada de historia, nueva y antigua. Aquí podrá ver la estatua recientemente renovada del rey Luis XIV, el Instituto Paul Bocuse y un monumento a Antoine de St-Exupéry.
Finalmente, finalizaremos nuestro viaje en La Confluence. La singularidad de la geografía de Lyon queda demostrada por los dos canales entre los que se construye el corazón de la ciudad; en la confluencia las dos aguas se vuelven una. Esto también brinda una vista perfecta de la arquitectura deconstructivista de la zona y del museo que se encuentra allí.

Guide Herbert had fantastic stories about Lyon that he told very nicely; murals that we would have missed otherwise and ‘own ‘ documentation to have ‘pictures’ to accompany it. This gave a very colorful image of Lyon . It really was a party with a lot of wonder this tour with Herbert! Highly recommended if you really want to discover Lyon . I can't say enough good things about Frank, the owner of Holland Bike Tours. It was pouring rain with thunder and lightning the day of our tour and we asked to reschedule the next day in the morning. Lyon is a great city to explore by bike with lots of bike paths and we really enjoyed this tour. Our guide, Frank, was friendly and informative about the history of Lyon. The bikes were all new Dutch style e-bikes, which were very comfortable and easy to operate. My wife was a bit nervous at first having never ridden an e-bike, but with Frank’s reassurance and care she soon got the hang of it.

We didn’t go on the bike tour but rented the high quality Holland brand. So many cities have the standard rental bikes that are not good touring bikes but the Holland made the ride more enjoyable. We hired the standard gazelle and the e-bike. I must say how impressed we were with Frank who was very knowledgeable and flexible for our needs. He made sure we were outfitted with helmets and gave us all the information for touring Lyon, including his Kamoot tour route. I will look forward to another ride with Hollland!

Very warm welcome by Frank and the two guides, all bikes in prefect condition and all well explained by Frank, very flexible and supportive! He even organised the sunshine for our tour, at arrival it was raining. A great experience to better discover Lyon by bike, this special and beautiful city has a lot to offer.
