Best Time to Visit
May–June and September–October offer warm weather, swimmable seas and fewer crowds than the July–August peak, when prices and visitor numbers soar. Sunsets are spectacular year-round, but spring and early autumn are the most comfortable and best value.
Getting Around
The island is small but hilly. Local buses connect the main towns to Fira, the capital, though they can be crowded in summer. Many visitors hire an ATV, car or driver for flexibility; the caldera-edge villages of Fira and Oia are best explored on foot.
