Famous luxury restaurant with a regal style. The venue has its entrance in the museum halls, while the large banquet hall is enormous and the tables are arranged continuously in multiple rows to form a sort of amphitheater. In the center and on one side is the dance floor where beautiful performances by professional performers follow one another, some hundreds of them, dressed in sumptuous local costumes. They serve an extensive menu of traditional Chinese dishes in an excellent manner, all of which are absolutely excellent. Dinner is a fantastic experience that I absolutely recommend doing at least once if you visit Beijing.
We attended this experience and it turned out to be a magnificent surprise and a true highlight of our trip! It wasn't just a museum visit, but an incredible, lively show. The performance takes you on a fascinating journey through the centuries of imperial cuisine and culture. The historical costumes were absolutely breathtaking, colorful, and beautifully detailed. We were seated in row four, which was absolutely perfect—it gave us a wonderful, clear overview of the entire stage and all the action. The combination of the beautiful visuals, the history of the food, and the overall atmosphere made this an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!
A superb moment! At 5:50 PM, there is a small parade outside the hotel, but it is just an attraction (it feels a bit like Disney). On the other hand, there is a magnificent show in the grand banquet hall featuring about ten tableaux depicting the history and culture of China. The setting, the dances, and the costumes are magnificent, and the dishes (8 in total) are absolutely refined and delicious. It is worth being in the front row even if the price is high because you enjoy the show even more (it is ideal to be opposite the entrance with the first seat numbers) and because you are served by the dancers who parade with a ceremonial aspect that is part of the choreography. At the end, there are drawings to win tickets for the show! Duration is 1 hour and 20 minutes, but arrive early because there is a museum to visit, and you can choose to be dressed as a Chinese prince/princess.
This experience of history, pageantry and divine cuisine was amazing. I highly recommend recommended and I will be sure to go again when I return to Beijing.
Thank you for your wonderful review! Delighted you loved the imperial experience. And thank you for promising to return — we can't wait to welcome you back. We look forward to your next visit!
This was the most enjoyable culinary experience imaginable. We were seated in the front row where each course was served in a choreographed manner that made us feel like royalty. The food was intertwined with the cultural presentation and represented dishes from different regional cuisines. There were many dances and costumes that expertly highlighted the cultural diversity of China. The museum itself was a bit underwhelming but didn't diminish from the overall experience. I highly recommend you add this activity to your Beijing itinerary.
Thank you for this absolutely wonderful 5-star review! We're so glad your front-row royal experience — with choreographed courses, cultural performances, and dances highlighting China's diversity — was the most enjoyable culinary experience imaginable. Thank you also for your honest note about the museum; we're glad it didn't take away from your overall joy. We are proud to share this feast. And thank you for highly recommending it for any Beijing itinerary — hope to see you again!
Great museum, food and show! We didn't get there early enough to dress in the traditional dress but it looked like fun. Fabulous show and so much food!
Thank you for your wonderful review! Delighted you enjoyed the museum, show, and food. Next time, come early for the traditional dress — it's waiting for you! Xi'an China Travel Service hopes to see you again soon.
We had a great time. This is one of the best show with music, dancing. It's continued for two hour, one dancing after another. And dinner was so good with so many different cuisine from different regions throughout the history ie. Han cuisine, Tang cuisine and Qing cuisine.
Thank you for your 5-star review! Delighted you enjoyed the two-hour dance show and the imperial feast across Han, Tang, and Qing eras. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!
Great way to celebrate a birthday! We were amazed at how warmly and enthusiastically the staff congratulated our family member at the end of the show! The show itself was extremely entertaining and colorful!
Thank you for your wonderful review! We're so happy that your family member's birthday celebration at our show was such a great experience. And we are glad that you enjoyed the colorful performance. Hope to celebrate with you again soon!
My husband and I heard about this experience from a friend of ours whose parents live in the states but who are originally from China. They went to the dinner on a recent visit to Beijing and couldn't say enough good things about it. We watched videos on YouTube before booking and decided it would fit well into our itinerary. Over all it was a fun, visually beautiful experience. The meal was unique with some very tasty dishes. One consideration is the proximity from where we were staying in Beijing close to Qianmen St. We took a Didi with what we thought was more than enough time to arrive before Rhea, but unfortunately there was traffic control occurring and we were stuck in traffic not moving for about 20 minutes. Luckily we made it just as the dinner was starting, but in somewhat of a panic. Overall, we absolutely would recommend to anyone interested. We also recommend spending a bit more for row 2-3. It was great to be up front near the action!
Thank you for your wonderful and detailed review! We're so happy that you and your husband enjoyed the Yuxiandu Royal Banquet — from the unique, tasty dishes to the beautiful performances. We're sorry to hear about the traffic control and the stressful rush, but so glad you made it just in time! Your tip about booking rows 2–3 is very helpful for future guests. Thank you for recommending us, and we hope to see you again in Beijing!
