Great Wall with great guide

Lucy was an outstanding tour guide and truly made our visit to the Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square, and the Forbidden City unforgettable. She was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and explained the history in a way that was both interesting and easy to understand. Lucy was friendly, patient, and always happy to answer our questions. She kept the tour well organised and made sure everyone felt comfortable throughout the day. A special thank you for arranging the refund for the gondola ride at the Great Wall of China. We really appreciate your help and your excellent customer service. Thanks to Lucy, we learned so much and enjoyed every moment of our day. We highly recommend her to anyone visiting Beijing. Thank you again, Lucy, for giving our family such wonderful memories. We wish you all the very best for the future!

Forbidden City n Great Wall Whole Day inclusive tour

A++++++. Bruce is great. He speaks fluent English and will accommodate your needs. He picked us up at our hotel which was not on the list (I wonder how come a JW Marriott was not on the pick up list since it was only a few KMs (like 2/3/4 kms maybe?) away from the forbidden city) The 1 day tour is great for first timers.

Operator response

Dear willy, Thank you for your perfect A++++++ rating and kind feedback about Bruce! We’re glad to hear Bruce impressed you greatly with his fluent English and thoughtful service that fully catered to your needs. We really appreciate him arranging hotel pickup for you even though JW Marriott was not originally on our pickup list, and we totally understand your confusion as the hotel is merely a few kilometres from the Forbidden City. We will take your valuable comment on board to review and optimise our hotel pickup list in the future. This one-day tour is perfectly designed for first-time visitors to cover Beijing’s top landmarks efficiently. We will pass all your warm compliments to Bruce right away. Wish you a wonderful remaining trip in Beijing! Best regards, Lily's Beijing Tours Team

Unforgettable day. Unmissable experience.

Despite the intense and relentless morning heat during the Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City section, tour guide Maggie's enthusiasm, commentary and storytelling kept my spirits up and kept me going. Maggie supplied interesting cultural and historical context to go with what we saw, so I came away with a real sense of Beijing's historical importance in China. Thanks to people like Maggie, the stories of the Ming dynasty and Emperor Tianlongsi live on. The lunch offering was terrific. The buffet choices were ideal and delicious. As for the Great Wall, the weather intervened. Thunder and heavy rain suspended the chairlift operation for over an hour from 3-4 pm, creating real uncertainty about whether we would get to walk on the wall at all. Maggie went into problem solving mode, checking to see if we might be willing to walk up the steps if the chairlift didn't reopen. Thankfully, it did, she hurried us along with guidance on where to get the best viewpoints for photos in the limited time available before the chairlift back down closed. The cool conditions and scattered clouds on the mountain provided a massive contrast to the morning heat, giving us all excellent photos. We came away uplifted and more than satisfied. Maggie brought so much care, colour, passion and energy and I thank her so much. Teddy

Major China Bucket List Items Checked Off

The Wall is the what makes this trip. We almost missed out due to afternoon rainstorms but Maggie kept our group focused while waiting for the skies to clear. The Forbidden City was nice to see and having Maggie's insights are what make the tour worthwhile. As for Tiananmen Square, you really just look at it from across the street while preparing to enter FC so not sure what my expectations were. Yes, Maggie had great information about it as well. Lunch was a welcome stop just before hitting the wall. I could have done with out the Jade sales store visit but it was located on the first floor. Lunch was on the second floor. While we enjoyed our time and would do it again, I did have some misconceptions about the different tour options. The cheaper option with more people called for meeting the group at the Grand Hotel. I opted for the the more expensive option to get picked up at my hotel. I wanted this so we could leave our day bag on the transportation. Unfortunately the pick up just meant Maggie meeting us at my hotel and then walking the 2 blocks to the cheaper option meeting spot. We ended up meeting the transportation only for the wall excursion. Carrying a day bag doesn't seem like a big deal but the first half of the tour was HOT and you receive extra scrutiny from the many security checkpoints. I probably would not have even brought it to begin with if it were more clear. All things considered, I would opt for the cheaper option next time. All of this to say, the experiences of visiting the sites were great. Maggie was excellent. If I ever find myself in Beijing again, we will look to see what Maggie is up to.

Operator response

Dear Guest Thank you very much for your thorough and honest review. We appreciate you sharing both your wonderful experience and honest feedback to help us improve our service. We are so glad Maggie made your day special despite the unexpected afternoon rainstorms. She kept your group calm and engaged waiting for the rain to stop, and her vivid historical commentary brought the Great Wall, Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square to life, which made the whole tour meaningful. We’re happy the lunch break before the Great Wall was a nice refreshment for you. We will pass all your high praise to Maggie right away. Best regards, Lily's Beijing Tours Team
