Organised chaos at the meeting point .... would not recommend meeting any tour at Main Station

The meeting point was absolute chaos. It is a terrible place to meet. So many people and different groups all congregating in the same place. There was no clear signage, no indication of the name of the tour company we booked with. We were not the only ones who struggled finding the tour group and leader. It was a common denominator. I had to phone Tour Leader Eva to find out where she was at Main Station. We booked through Trevotour Travels but the tour leader had on a kkday top !!!! Once the tour began it was ok, but the tour leader did not show us around at locations as had happened in previous tours. Was only explained to us while on the bus.

Operator response

Thank you for your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and inconvenience you experienced at the meeting point. We would like to clarify that the guide’s contact details and full meeting information were shared one day prior to the travel date, as mentioned in your booking. This is to help guests easily reach the guide in case of any difficulty locating the group, especially at busy locations like Main Station. As this meeting point is a common departure area for multiple tours, it can sometimes be crowded. We appreciate your understanding and will continue working on improving clarity and coordination for a smoother experience. Regarding the tour operation, we cooperate with local partners, which is why the guide may have been representing a different brand on-site. We also value your feedback about the guiding at the stops and will share it with the team for further improvement. Thank you again for your comments, and we hope to provide you with a better experience in the future.

Jiufen and Shifen Taiwan Tour

The Yehilu Geo Park tour was cancelled and I received an acceptable refund. The Tour to the Town of Shifen (Lantern experience) and nearby Shifen Falls was amazing and made the entire tour worth it. My only comment is that the lantern launching was mid afternoon, not in darkness, this should have been the last stop on this “evening” tour. Staying in Jiufen for 2 hours was too long. One hour max to take the landscape photos and quickly view the numerous tourist trap shops would have been sufficient. The two hours was needed for those who opted for the Tea Experience so I understand.

Operator response

Thank you for your detailed and balanced feedback! We’re glad to hear that despite the cancellation of Yehliu Geopark, you enjoyed the experiences at Shifen, including the lantern activity and the beautiful Shifen Falls. We appreciate your comments regarding the timing of the lantern release and the duration of the Jiufen stop. Your suggestions are very valuable, and we understand how adjusting the sequence or timing could further enhance the overall experience for our guests. At the same time, as you mentioned, certain timings are arranged to accommodate optional activities such as the tea experience, but we will certainly take your feedback into consideration for future improvements. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope to welcome you on another enjoyable tour in the future!

Taiwan’s highlights in one tour!

I joined a day tour covering Yehliu, Shifen, Shifen Waterfall, and Jiufen, and it was an amazing experience. Each stop had its own unique charm...Yehliu’s fascinating rock formations, the nostalgic railway town of Shifen with its sky lanterns, Shifen Waterfall, and Jiufen. I’m once again sure that Taiwan feels like a Miyazaki movies. =) What made the whole day unforgettable for me was our guide Vicky. She’s not only knowledgeable but also one of the warmest and kindest people I’ve met. I really enjoyed our conversations throughout the tour. She shared so many interesting recommendation, but also made me feel like I was traveling with a friend rather than just a guide. The pacing of the day was just right, giving us enough time to explore, take photos, and soak in the atmosphere at each location. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Taiwan!

Do not book

Do not book this company! The experience said maximum of 15 people and I arrived today to find 45 people booked. I asked them to cancel and they made it difficult trying to get me to cancel which would mean I lose money. They didn’t want to cancel it as they will lose money and credibility. Horrible experience!

Operator response

We are truly sorry to hear about your disappointment and the misunderstanding regarding the group size. We completely understand your frustration and regret that this situation affected your experience. As mentioned in our booking details, the maximum group size is 15 people per booking, and guests can book for up to 45 participants in total. Unfortunately, in this instance, multiple bookings on the same tour date resulted in a larger overall group. We have issued a full refund for your booking, and we kindly request you to review the refund status with Viator. Please rest assured that we take guest feedback seriously and will work on communicating this policy more clearly to avoid future misunderstandings. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and hope we can provide you with a much better experience in the future.

Amazing day outside Taipei with lots of walking shopping and eating! Fun for everyone

Super fun day, outdoors and away from the heart of Taipei. I really enjoyed that this tour went to the coast and we saw lots of ocean views and green spaces. Lots of walking so comfy shoes are a must. And those with mobility issues might think twice about this tour. Vicky was an amazing guide! Her recommendations were spot on and saved me money. She helped us to avoid the tourist traps and find local restaurants cafés, and try the local food at a reasonable cost. And there is plenty of time at each stop to do all the things in that area. This tour is low cost for the transportation and guidance from a true local expert. You will need to bring local currency for all of the additional items which are reasonably priced. Examples are the entrance fee for the geological park and the sky lanterns these are all things you will want to do so having cash makes it a lot easier. The geological park is fantastic and outdoors in the full sun. So sun protection is a must. I really enjoyed hiking around this park. The second stop is a lot of fun. I really enjoyed making a sky lantern and watching it float high in the air and into the mountains on a clear day. This is a great activity for kids and couples or even like me solo. Such a neat tradition! The last stop is an old village with a winding Street that has lots of shops and cafés and desserts and eateries. You have around two hours to wander. I picked up a few souvenirs to take home with me. Overall, this is a fun and exciting tour that just about anybody would enjoy. I highly recommend!

Awesome Tour and fun day

The tour experience today was truly exceptional. From beginning to end, every aspect of the itinerary was efficiently organized and executed with great attention to detail. Our guide was both courteous and well-informed, ensuring that all participants felt at ease throughout the journey. Yehliu Geopark was particularly striking, with its remarkable geological formations and stunning coastal scenery. Jiufen Old Street offered a delightful blend of culture and history — walking through its lantern-lit alleyways, sampling traditional snacks, and absorbing the nostalgic atmosphere was a memorable experience. The visit to Shifen Waterfall provided a serene and refreshing interlude, and the opportunity to release a sky lantern at Shifen Old Street was a truly enchanting highlight of the day. The transportation arrangements were seamless, and the overall pacing of the tour was ideal. I sincerely appreciated the stress-free nature of the entire experience. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Taipei — it offers an excellent way to explore some of Taiwan’s most iconic sites in a single day.

Good tour, average guide

It was a good tour to see the other areas on the Island, especially if you're on a tight schedule. However, the guide I had was very quick, explained briefly was the main site was and said bye. Not very interactive

Operator response

We truly value your comments regarding the guide’s interaction — we apologize if it fell short of expectations. We appreciate your understanding and hope to serve you better in the future.

NOT ENGLISH SPEAKING TOUR - this was my first time in Taipei and booked this tour to see some of the sights - English speaking was very important to me as I unfortunately don’t speak Chinese - due to the small group size we were downgraded to a van and they did not send a tour guide because there wasn’t a spare seat so we only had a driver that did not speak any English. I was very uncomfortable being the only one on the trip who couldn’t speak Chinese and I couldn’t enjoy the trip or guidance of each place due to not understanding the language. I ended up leaving the tour early and joining another tour with an English speaking guide. I contacted customer service to request a refund and they only offered 10%, I even offered to only have 50% refunded as I understand there are some costs that need to be covered but they did not approved anything higher than 20%.

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We sincerely apologize for the disappointment you faced during your tour of Yehliu, Jiufen, and Shifen. We understand how important an English-speaking guide is, especially for first-time visitors, and we deeply regret that the experience did not meet your expectations. For smaller groups, our policy (mentioned in the tour description) states that in case of limited seating in a 5- or 9-seater vehicle, a separate guide may not be provided, and the driver may use translation tools instead. However, we understand that this arrangement can be challenging for guests who rely on live explanations and cultural context in English. We also regret that the refund offered did not meet your expectations. Our team reviewed the case in line with our standard policy and the services rendered, and while we understand your perspective, we hope you can appreciate the limitations of last-minute changes and fixed tour costs. Your feedback has been shared with our operations team to review future arrangements more carefully, especially regarding guest comfort and communication clarity. Thank you once again for your valuable comments. We hope to have the opportunity to offer you a better experience in the future.

Bait & Switch tour.

We got notice the night before that our English speaking tour wil be changed to Chinese & Japanese & refund wasn’t an option. The tour guide doesn’t speak English, but tried hard to give us directions & some logistics to make sure we know where to meet up via Google translate app. We weren’t able to enjoy the tour since we don’t understand what was explained in Japanese & Chinese. Further more the tour skipped & didn’t go to the waterfall as advertised. I would advise not to book with this vendor in the future.

Operator response

Thank you for sharing your feedback, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced. We understand how disappointing it must have been to join a tour that did not meet your expectations, particularly with the language barrier and the missed stop. Please allow us to clarify that when smaller vehicles such as a 5- or 9-seater are used, a dedicated English-speaking tour guide may not be present, and the driver-guide may use translation software to assist communication. We recognize that this arrangement may not have been ideal in your case, and we are actively working to improve how this is communicated at the time of booking to ensure clarity. Regarding the skipped visit to the waterfall, we are currently investigating the reason for the change in the itinerary and apologize sincerely for any disappointment caused. We take such matters seriously and will ensure this is addressed with the relevant team. Your feedback is invaluable, and we appreciate your understanding as we strive to improve. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to reach out to us directly so we may further assist you.

Do Not Book - unprofessional and false advertising

Horrible experience. We get into the car and it says english/chinese speaking tour guide. The driver spoke no english at all. We were crammed into a minivan skin to skin no room to even have a bag. 10 minutes into the drive I contacted the company and said this is not what they listed in the booking details and had the driver exit the freeway and drop me off. This was ridiculous. The driver had no idea what he was doing, was late and had no representation of the company. The company is now not replying to my requests for a refund. Worst experience I have ever had. Will never book them again. Please do not use this company

Operator response

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced on your tour. We understand your frustration and truly regret that the service did not meet your expectations. To clarify, as stated in our tour details, when a 5- or 9-seater vehicle is used, a separate English-speaking tour guide is not assigned. In such cases, the driver also acts as the guide and may use translation software to assist with communication. This is a common setup for smaller group sizes and helps us keep the tour more intimate and efficient. We understand, however, that this may not have been clear at the time of booking or may not have aligned with your expectations. Your feedback is important to us, and we are reviewing how we can better communicate this point during the booking process to avoid future misunderstandings. Regarding your refund request, we are currently in communication with Viator to resolve this matter fairly. We truly value your experience and appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve our services. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to have an opportunity to serve you better in the future.
