Private session with the master storyteller Hector!

Definitely a top experience. Together with my brother-in-law booked the tasting 'The Regions'. We were nicely welcomed by Hector who offered us a place on an old leather sofa because the previous group of about 8 was still busy. Then we were allowed to sit down and it turned out that we were the only 2: a private explanation and what kind of one: Hector is a great storyteller with a deep knowledge, but conveys it with a lot of humor and anecdotes. A hugely fun lesson in history. Of course with a few perfect examples of whiskies make it part of the story. If I go to Edinburh again for another whisky tasting, then definitely to Jeffry's again

Whisky tasting even for non whisky fans

Absolutely fantastic experience, our guide was great, told us all about the history of whisky all linked in with Scottish history and culture, all done with great humour. The whisky selection was great also a nice mix of different whisky. Cannot recommend this enough, even for non whisky fans.

Well worth it

Professional, knowledgeable and engaging, this tasting far exceeded our expectations. Learned enough to spark our interest in trying different scotches and learning more about the process. Hector is truly exceptional.

Amazing!! Book now.

We just returned from an incredible tasting experience, and I can’t recommend this place enough. One of the co-founders guided us through the whiskeys while also sharing fascinating insights into the history of alcohol. It was both fun and informative—a truly great time. Even with some prior knowledge of whiskey, we walked away having learned so much more. And if you’re new to the spirit, don’t worry—it’s welcoming, approachable, and fun. Our host was absolutely delightful: charming, knowledgeable, and very funny. I highly, highly recommend this experience.

Fantastic experience

Had an amazing time on this whiskey tasting experience. Nice small group so cosy and friendly atmosphere. The whiskeys were amazing and Hector is an incredible raconteur with, clearly, in depth knowledge of whiskey. Highly reccomended!

Excellent experience for a tasting in Edinburgh

Excellent tasting experience! As a true novice, I wasn’t sure what to expect but Daniel taught me so much in just one “what is scotch?” tasting! Loads of history about whisky (political and economic) and what all the terms mean, all brought to life without being overwhelming while trying various drams. I’m confident that even the most knowledgeable will learn here. Not at all touristy and the selection at the shop and their knowledge is phenomenal. Highly recommend booking!

Best whisky tasting we could have asked for!

If you’re going to do a whisky tasting in Edinburgh, you must do it at Jeffrey Street Whisky & Tobacco. This place is an absolute gem. Our tasting class with Hector was a standout highlight of our trip. My husband loves whisky, but I feel neutrally about it, yet we both learned so much and had an absolute blast. Before the class, we were unsure which flight to try, and Hector gave really helpful suggestions to guide us. And we enjoyed the ones we had! The whisky was delicious, the history was fascinating, and Hector was so charming, funny, and informative. His enthusiasm for alcohol and its history is infectious. He is steeped in knowledge (pun intended) about whisky and Scottish history, generous with his time, and very approachable. In addition, Hector gave excellent suggestions for special finds we could ship back with us to the States. So: if you want a truly special and one-of-a-kind whisky tasting, this is the place for you.

A fun & classy tasting

We did the “What is Scotch” tasting, going in as English novices but coming out with a greater understanding of the history & culture of Scotch whisky. Hector was an engaging & informative host who was clued up in both the drink & clients, giving us an in depth & entertaining experience to compliment the tastings. The whiskys themselves were rare & high quality, an upgrade on anything a regular bar could serve up. Would definitely recommend.
