This tour has a lot of potential but is organized by a large organization and very much feels like we were just a number to them. We also unfortunately visited on a very rainy day and the Rio Celeste was brown. The guide was very knowledgeable but didn't seem to know how to read his group of tour goers. He kept stopping to look for snakes or plants when it was POURING down rain and all of us just wanted to keep walking to stay warm. He also said we would all hike together but since my Mom was the slowest hiker we often got so far behind due to the mud that we couldn't even see the rest of the group. We were rushed through lunch only to then sit around. This tour has a lot of potential and you will see LOTS of wild life but I would suggest going with a smaller operator.
It was great experience and I like that it was small group of people. Everything was great and we all love it.
The park is a great place, the views of the Rio Celeste are absolutely worth it. The guide is useful to help us spot wildlife. It was a little bit crowded in the park though.
Message from the tour company was received the day before introducing our guide, Pepe, and driver, Carlos. The arrived at our hotel right on time for pickup. It was a long-ish ride from La Fortuna, but Pepe chatted with us and filled us in more on what we would be doing. The hike itself was great with a very well-traveled trail. Pepe pointed out the various animals as we found them. He took pictures for us through his scope, as most guides do, as well as pics of every couple and the whole group together. We had hoped to see a tapir, but it was not to be. However, we did come across a Fer de Lance (highly poisonous snake), which is not common to see. The trail ends where two streams meet, and the alkalinity of one mixes with the minerals in the other, creating the blue color of Rio Celeste. After hiking back out, we stopped for lunch, which we all thought was fine, if basic. Then it was off to a spot outside the park for a swim in the Rio Celeste. Pepe held our towels and took pictures for us until we were ready to head back to our hotel.
The bar staff in the Rio Park Benidorm see Hospitality as a career - I've never seen anywhere in England take so much care in cleaning down barista machines at the end of the day - we need to make hospitality a valued profession in the UK along with the carers
Amazing tour guide and very good driver! We saw so many birds and animals thanks to the quide and driver. Good experience as a solo traveller as group was mainly just solo travellers. Thank you.
This tour was an efficient way to see the Tenorio volcano area, but the "walk" was more of a hike. That was fine by me, but the group was ill prepared for that, which made it less than ideal.
Pepe was a wonderful guide, awesome with our grandchildren, was able to memorize 12 strangers names immediately. We had a great time in Tenorio National Park The lunch we all had was also delicious. Great experience in Bijuaga!
This was challenging for me but I'm so glad I did it! There's so much to see on the drive to the Rio Celeste. There were a few parts that were challenging due to my bad knees but slow and steady got me there! Bring a swim suit and change of clothes if you feel like swimming at the end. The guides have a spot away from the park where folks can cool off.
Santiago aka Tarzan was a great guide. Very educated and gave us so much information . Very polite and helpful . Thanks is was a breath of fresh air.
