Be amazed by the thousands of magical glowworms above as you glide silently by boat in the world-famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves. Guided since the late 1880s, this is the original, iconic New Zealand attraction. The Waitomo Glowworm Caves tours are made up of two levels. The upper chamber is dry and decorated with stunning, delicate cave formations, and the lower level consists of stream passages, glowworms, and the Cathedral, the tallest chamber in the cave. Many of the guides are direct descendants of the Maori chief who originally explored the cave, bringing the cave to life through story-telling and explaining the world-famous cave's history, features, and legends. This tour includes transport from your accommodation in Auckland, and it's limited to six travelers to ensure personalized service.

You will be picked up from your accommodation and taken to the Hobbiton Movie Set. It takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Known as one of New Zealand’s best natural attractions, take a boat ride through the glowworm grotto, marvel at thousands of magical glowworms and become part of over 130 years of cultural and natural history. Waitomo is more than just caves and glowworms, it a cultural hub and rich in Maori history, myths and legends. On tours of each cave, you’ll learn about the history and origin story of the cave, and gain insights into what the past occupants of Waitomo went through to discover the cave, in a time before torches and electricity. The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes. We will have a delicious lunch after the tour. Lunch costs are not included in the tour fee.
