Description

America’s most iconic animals — llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, and guanacos — in a respectful and culturally immersive way. Unlike typical tourist stops, this experience is led by a local guide passionate about Andean culture and heritage. You won’t just observe the animals — you’ll learn to distinguish between each species, understand their role in ancient Inca society, and discover how their wool is still woven into traditional clothing using centuries-old techniques. You’ll visit a community-run camelid center where the animals are well cared for, and where your presence directly supports sustainable tourism and local communities.

Two hours to fill a day in Cusco

Just to touch the animals, which are well cared for and treated with the minimum of "Western" respect. Curious if not astonishing, the guide with "budget" means: tour sold as "private", I am contacted to add a couple, no objection from me, I see a private car arrive full, where two girls are made to sit in an improvised spot in the trunk, and then on the return, with an even smaller vehicle, I am made to sit in front and the guide sits on the lap of the two tourists in the back seat… happy for them…
