Meet your expert local guide at the iconic Piazza Barberini in the heart of Rome, and join our guide to the captivating Capuchin Crypts.
Explore the Capuchin Crypts, where five chapels beneath the Church of Santa Maria della Concezione Cappuccini are adorned with the bones of Capuchin friars. Originally intended for burial, these crypts now serve as a powerful reminder of life's transience. Discover eerie yet intriguing displays in chapels like the Crypt of the Skulls and the Crypt of the Leg Bones and Thigh Bones. It's a unique and somewhat spooky experience!
After hours, your guide unlocks the ancient gates and leads you into tunnels carved from soft stone. You explore several sections and see early biblical frescoes, including what many believe is the earliest depiction of the Nativity. Depending on the date, the visit takes place at either the Catacombs of Priscilla or the Catacombs of San Sebastiano
Following your guided tour of the catacombs, settle in for a transfer back to where your adventure first started. (hotel drop-off not included)

- Due to traffic regulations, all children must be seated. Car seats are available upon request which must be made at least 72 hours in advance.
- The catacombs are a sacred site, so please cover your knees and shoulders. A shawl, scarf, or sweater works well.

The whole experience was extremely smooth and well organized! The tour guide was informative and the whole thing was quite family friendly.
Sam was an awesome tour guide today. He took us first through the museum of Cappucin history. This was an audio tour and it sounds cheesy at first but it ended up being very informative. At the end of the museum is the crypt, where you’ll see all of the bones. Very cool. Then we took a bus to the catacombs underneath the Vatican, where we had an amazing guide take us underground and teach us the history of the catacombs. Afterwards, Sam gave us tons of tips about where to eat in Rome, and we took 2 of his recommendations (Pizza at Trevi and Luciano’s gelato), both were great. One recommendation: do the Borghese museum and Vatican tour before this, it will give you some insight into the Popes and the culture. Don’t miss this!

Sister Nichole, who gave us the tour of the catacombs, was an effervescent sparkler. She made it very fu and memorable.
Excellent tour- meeting point easy to find, very interesting history regarding both crypts. Nicely arranged transportation between crypt locations, the guide continued his narration of the crypts and city during the ride which was appreciated.
