Itinerary
In the morning, we will board the 10:00 AM BC Ferries sailing from Tsawwassen to Victoria, the charming capital city of British Columbia, located at the southern tip of Vancouver Island. The scenic journey takes approximately 90 minutes aboard a modern, full-service ferry featuring comfortable lounges, restaurants, cafés, and gift shops. During the crossing, step out onto the open deck to admire the breathtaking coastal landscapes of the Georgia Strait, keep an eye out for local marine wildlife, or simply relax with a freshly brewed coffee while enjoying the spectacular ocean views. The ferry ride itself is a memorable West Coast experience and a highlight of the day’s adventure.
Step into a world-renowned floral masterpiece at Butchart Gardens, a breathtaking 55-acre garden set within a transformed limestone quarry. This extraordinary National Historic Site is a living expression of artistry and horticultural excellence, where each garden reveals a distinct atmosphere, from the dramatic Sunken Garden to the tranquil elegance of the Japanese Garden. Across the seasons, the landscape evolves into a vibrant spectacle: spring tulips in full bloom, summer roses in rich colour, and enchanting winter illuminations that transform the grounds into a glowing wonderland. More than a garden, it is an immersive sensory experience and one of Victoria’s most unforgettable highlights.
Glide through the historic heart of Chinatown, one of North America’s oldest Chinese communities. From the comfort of the vehicle, admire its distinctive architecture, narrow alleyways, and vibrant street life, offering a glimpse into a rich cultural heritage that continues to thrive today.
Victoria’s Inner Harbour is the city’s iconic waterfront centrepiece, where history, culture, and coastal beauty come together. The harbour is framed by two of Victoria’s most celebrated landmarks: the historic Parliament Buildings, completed in 1898 in a grand neo-baroque style, and the elegant Fairmont Empress Hotel, opened in 1908 and renowned for its classic Edwardian architecture and famous afternoon tea tradition. These architectural icons reflect Victoria’s strong British heritage, while seaplanes, ferries, and the lively waterfront promenade add energy and charm to the area. Just steps away, Government Street offers heritage buildings, boutique shops, souvenir stores, cafés, and restaurants, making it a popular destination for shopping and exploration. Nearby, the Royal BC Museum showcases British Columbia’s rich natural and Indigenous history. Together, these attractions create the cultural heart of Victoria and one of Canada’s most picturesque waterfront destinations.
The journey continues past the lush landscapes of Beacon Hill Park, a stunning urban oasis filled with Garry oak trees, floral gardens, and open green spaces. This scenic drive-by offers a glimpse of one of the city’s most beloved natural retreats. Shortly after, pass the historic Mile Zero, home to the symbolic starting point of the Trans-Canada Highway and the moving Terry Fox Memorial. This landmark stands as a powerful tribute to courage and perseverance, representing a meaningful piece of Canada’s national identity. Both sites are highlighted as narrated pass-by experiences, allowing you to appreciate their significance while continuing a comfortable and enriching journey through the city.

Our day started at 7:15am pick up and ended at 8:30pm drop off in Vancouver. We spent most of our time on the road and the ferry trip to Victoria and back. We were allotted 30 mins breakfast at the ferry station, 1 hr and 25 mins at the Capitol and its surrounding area, an hour for lunch, 10 mins at Mile 0 spot and then an hour at the Butchart Gardens. I paid $281 for 3 people to include the $30 discount from tripadvisor and to top it off a $15 "service fee" for the tour guide/bus driver. Overall, I wasn't impressed and I don't think I'll do this again...
Hi there, thank you for sharing these details. Traveling to Victoria involves a significant amount of transit time, and we're sorry the time spent at the attractions felt insufficient. Please contact me at info@1stexpress.com so I may clarify our itinerary and discuss how we can improve our guest experience.
It was all good, I didn't understand one thing, why did someone put us, two Europeans, in a Chinese group? Who did it and why?
The majority of the tourists on the bus didn't speak English. The guide was bilingual and did a good job of keeping everyone informed.
Great experience, well run & was good to see Victoria! Logistics went well and our tour guide Jake did a great job to ensure a wonderful tour.
The driver was excellent. Our favorite place was the garden, so beautiful and serene. Driving around and seeing all the lovely sights in Victoria was fun and educational.
Victoria is a beautiful city. We will definitely come back again and will stay longer. Butchart garden is wonderful just like the garden from our dream! Never saw the followers could open that big and colourful in any other garden.
Visiting Vancouver and my friend recommended me join a Victoria Tour to see Butchart Gardens and all the other iconic sites on the island. Fantastic trip and just so productive as I was able to take it all in with a full day. Make sure you are well rested the night before because the day is long. Try and take advantage before the summer ends because when the fall comes it will be rainy and not as fun. Highly recommend if you are visiting Vancouver and Victoria for a short stay and want to see everything.
Vancouver island 1-day tour was great. Island’s natural beauty is stunning, our guide was fantastic, sharing great insights along the way, and itinerary was well-balanced. great experience!
Butchart Gardens were the highlight of the day, but we also enjoyed exploring Victoria. It was a long day with about half of the time on the ferry. Our guide was very knowledgeable, repeating the information in three languages. One concern we had driving into Vancouver from The USA was parking. The tour company had no information about parking, but a website SpotAngels helped us find free day parking close to the pickup location.
I booked through Trip Advisor however they sold it to a tour group called First Express Travel and the tour was in Chinese! The guide, Chris, tried to speak broken English but we couldn't understand him and eventually he would resort back to Chinese. Plus he didn't even stop at half of the stops that were listed nor did he explain anything- he was more like an Uber driver. The night before the tour Chris text stating to meet him earlier because he suddenly had more stops to make to pick up Chinese tourists. We now had to be there before 7am and spent over a hour just picking up others from their hotel even though when I booked there were only 2 stops you could pick from.Chris kept us on the bus most of the day, perhaps he was concerned about getting late if we made all the stops. Chris also told everyone that there was a mandatory cash service fee(tip) of $15 per person that he collected from every person. No where did the tour list an additional mandatory fee. I reported it to TripAdvisor and they forwarded it to Viator and they said they reached out to the tour company however I have not heard anything. I now have to dispute it with my credit card company since the service was not provided and essentially I was scammed. It definitely ruined our trip to Victoria which we were really looking forward towards.
