Versailles Palace Tour

Macro was a very good storyteller. He made the experience about Louis the XIV very interesting. The pick was the same spot as always, as we've booked a few tours with city wonders through varies agencies. The palace tour was great. The time spent inside and out was ample. We got a train ride around the grounds for 9Euro, which was great. You can pay for that on the day. It's a hop on hop off around the grounds. The day was great. Thanks for a good English speaking guide they was friendly. As was Serena who picked us up. Very polite and informative.

Versailles guided tour

We arrived there at noon. Grossly overcrowded inside Versailles palace. Could only shuffle from room to room. Really impossible for guide to properly explain things under the circumstances. The gardens afterwards were enjoyable afterwards.

Operator response

Dear Richard_B, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are pleased to hear that you were able to enjoy the beautiful gardens during your visit! We are truly sorry that the inside of the Versailles Palace felt so overwhelmingly crowded. The palace is an incredibly popular global attraction, and unfortunately, we have no control over the heavy crowds or the volume of visitors inside the venue. Under these packed conditions, navigating the rooms can definitely be a challenge, and we appreciate your understanding of how difficult it is for guides to present information when it is crowded.

Ok tour with poor tour operator communication

The bus was comfortable with mostly working AC. The Palace guide was good, but the heat made the trip unreasonable. When I injured my leg on the Palace stairs, the app for the tour sponsor, City Wonders, prevented me from contacting their staff to request a return to the bus. I will not support this tour and thrir poor communication.

Operator response

Hi Bradley_S, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're pleased to hear that you found the bus comfortable and enjoyed the knowledge and guidance provided during your Palace visit. However, we are very sorry to learn about your leg injury and the difficulty you experienced through the City Wonders app. Guides on chat receive messages but they might be busy with the tour and not answer immediately therefore we have emergency phone numbers on the vouchers as well. We also understand that the heat made the experience more challenging and appreciate your comments regarding the conditions on the day of your tour.

OK tour (when temp is below 30) but tour operator needs to work on their app.

Good communication with tour operator prior to tour, comfortable bus w/mostly working AC, and good driver for nice smooth ride. Tour guide was great with interesting and funny historical details. However, the length of the Palace tour with no where to rest combined with the heat was horrible. I would not recommend the tour after the temp exceeds 30 C. We cut our walk short through Palace gardens because of the heat. Finally, the tour operator, City Wonders, encouraged downloading their app to maintain communication during the tour, but their system failed miserably when I injured my leg and their app's AI prevented me from contacting their staff. Overall, there was both good and bad on this tour.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish. The bus arrived right on time, which set a great tone for the day. Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging, making the trip all the more memorable. The exhibition itself was a real highlight — well-curated and fascinating to explore. I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone looking for a smooth, well-organised outing.
