A unique walking tour in the versailles village and small streets. It gives you more background on the history of the kings who occupied the Chateau abd their entourage.as well as all the politics that was going on. Mateo is the doing the tour and he is very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of France.

Matteo knows a lot about french history which he explains in fluent clear English. He was careful to check how far we wanted to walk & what we are interested to see, giving us options for the route. Stopping at the little cafe for a drink was a welcome rest on a hot day.
Very satisfied with this family visit to Versailles. Originally from Périgord, we knew Versailles quite poorly. We had a remarkable guide who knew every corner and good plans of the city. Friendly and passionate, we had a pleasant time in his company. A visit not to be missed!
We wanted with my girlfriend not to discover Versailles but to live it as the local know. We had a great time with Mateo ! He was very welcoming and had us at ease at the very beginning. His passion for Versailles history is contagious and we learn about the political, cultural and social history of Versailles throughout a well constructed, chronological tour. Mateo shared his special adresses such as an antiquary or restaurant. Overall we had a great time we saw few tourist except near the Chateau de Versailles, and Mateo was a great local guide !
Mateo introduced us to the hidden Versailles away from tourists. Very warm and educational, Mateo told us the history of Versailles and its places while taking us to the spots that the locals cherish. Mateo is fascinating and educational. It is a wonderful way to discover this city. The Saint Louis squares are truly from another time!
