Itinerary
Begin your journey with skip-the-line access to the Vatican Museums, one of the largest and most impressive museum complexes in the world. Follow your private guide through centuries of art, history, and culture.
Step into the scenic Pinecone Courtyard, a peaceful open-air space framed by classical architecture and home to the enormous bronze pinecone sculpture that gives the courtyard its name.
Admire Arnaldo Pomodoro’s striking modern sculpture, Sphere within Sphere, located in the heart of the courtyard. Your guide will explain its symbolic layers and how it fits into the setting of the Vatican.
Marvel at the ancient masterpiece Laocoön and His Sons, one of the most famous sculptures in the Vatican Museums. Your guide will recount the dramatic myth behind this powerful work.
Walk through the ornate Gallery of Tapestries, featuring beautifully woven scenes depicting religious and historical events, crafted by master Flemish weavers.
Continue into the Gallery of Maps, an extraordinary corridor lined with detailed 16th-century topographical maps of Italy. The vivid colors and large scale of the frescoes make this one of the museum’s highlights.
Enter the awe-inspiring Sistine Chapel and gaze at Michelangelo’s iconic ceiling frescoes and The Last Judgment. Your guide will explain the key scenes and symbols before you enter, as speaking is not allowed inside.
At the end of the tour, your guide will lead you to the entrance of St. Peter's Basilica, using a special skip-the-line access. The tour ends here. Guests may visit the basilica on their own, taking time to explore this monumental church and its treasures at their own pace.

Humberto was an amazing guide. So knowledgeable! He gave us details we would never have known about the Vatican.
Thank you for your kind words and for your recommendation. We'll make sure Alberto receives your lovely feedback, and we're so glad you chose to visit the Vatican with CityEyes. Alberto, and the CityEyes Team
Overall great experience with this tour and definitely recommend booking! Meeting area was easy to find (next to a cafe), and we lucked out with a “private group” (signed up for semi-private tour including Sistine Chapel for our party of 4 but no one else joined). We enjoyed the intimacy of a small group… Our tour guide, Maria Linda, was fabulous. She easily got us thru a very crowded security and led us to key places to see. Very knowledgeable with a wealth of historical background. She showed us pictures of what to look for in Sistine Chapel (as they leave you alone to take it all in). Additionally, knew her stuff - answering all questions we had. Recommendation - book the early morning tour for better viewing and far less crowds!
Thank you for recommending CityEyes. Having space to enjoy the Vatican properly can make all the difference, and we’re glad Maria Linda helped make the visit feel effortless. Maria Linda, and the CityEyes Team
We had a great tour with Marina, other parties cancelled so it was basically a private tour. Marina was very knowledgeable and brought the tour to life with interesting stories and a great sense of humour. Tip: the meeting location Guily’s Cafe is very expensive even by Rome standards. Eat before you go.
Thank you for your recommendation. We'll be sure Marina receives your kind words, and we're so pleased you chose to explore Rome with CityEyes. Marina, and the CityEyes Team
It wasn’t my first tour guide at the Vatican but the tour with Marina was by far the best. She knew all the tricks to have less crowded paths and took time to explain what we were about to see. It was incredible, it is a must if you are going to Rome.
Being compared with previous experiences is a compliment we never take lightly. Thank you for placing your trust in CityEyes, and for recommending us to future visitors. Grazie! Marina, and the CityEyes Team
I have been to the Vatican multiple times. This was my first guided tour, which I selected because I waited too long to reserve skip the line tickets. Alessandro (“Alex”) was great! He was very knowledgeable, his English was very good, and Alex provided context and information we would not have had without an art degree or a lot of reading. I also saw things and parts of the museum I had not seen before. It was a very unique experience!
Our tour guide Maria Linda was polite, knowledgeable, and knew exactly what to say at all the right times. Highly recommend paying the extra €10 for access to the top of Saint Peter’s Basilica!
Our guide Sylvia was very kind, engaging, and knowledgeable. Would absolutely recommend this tour and Sylvia. Everything went smoothly and we never felt rushed. There were only six of use of the tour which made it much easier to keep track of people and answer our questions. We saw the crowd waiting for regular admission and were very relieved we didn’t have much of a wait besides the short wait to enter the grounds.
The visit was handled very professionally. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. She made sure all our needs were taken care of during the tour.
We're happy to hear the experience felt well taken care of from start to finish. Thank you for sharing your kind words. The Eyes of Rome Team
