Itinerary
After a short drive from Avignon and your tour guide's commentary along the way, experience the peaceful surroundings of St Paul de Mausole's asylum, where the Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh created masterpieces like "The Starry Night" or "Irises". Don't miss the remains of the former Roman town of Glanum that are to be admired just across the street. Please note that the hospital is still in use today. Visiting the replica of Van Gogh’s room is not included in this tour. There is either no time or very limited time available to see it, so the focus will be on the exteriors and the final part of the St Remy Van Gogh Walk, where boards represent some of the artist’s most famous works.
Embark on a scenic drive through rolling vineyards and fragrant olive groves to reach Les Baux de Provence, a sparkling jewel in the heart of the Alpilles massif. Your tour guide will drop you at the entrance of this enchanting pedestrian village, where every winding street and sun-drenched terrace offers breathtaking views. Perched like an eagle’s nest on a rocky plateau overlooking the vast Camargue, Les Baux is much more than a medieval fortress—it’s a place to wander, explore charming shops, discover local crafts, and soak up the timeless Provençal atmosphere.
Meet your driver and head to Arles, the vibrant and historic heart of the Camargue. Your tour guide will provide maps and insights to help you make the most of your visit. Enjoy a long stop to wander through Arles’ captivating streets, explore its remarkable UNESCO-listed monuments, and follow in Van Gogh’s footsteps, all while soaking up the town’s unique charm and rich history.

Visit this village on your own initiative. We don't like organized (commercial) tours. It is a very pretty village, well preserved, lovely with a chapel and church of St Vincent. We left the castle. That was too steep a climb for our older stiff legs.
Very nice tour guide, safe driver. I was expecting a little more in depth information about Van Gogh, nothing I had not heard before. Trip of Remy and psychiatric hospital highlight of trip to see the room lwhere Van Gogh stayed and the view from his room. Quite a bit of info here about the painter. The olive fields where he painted. Trip,to Arles a little light on with Van Gogh info but not surprising as this was the town that had petition to remove him from town. However, did see the river from which he sat on bank and painted Starry Night, a big expanse of sky here.
Nico did an amazing job getting us to Les Baux and Arles giving us plenty of tips and maximum time for both. Plus a superb stop at the hospital where Van Gogh stayed. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon.
We enjoyed the entire experience. Being Van Gogh enthusiasts, we enjoyed St. Remy. Other sites visited, including Les Baux-de-Provence, the Roman Colosseum and ampitheatre in Arles, and the Roman Aquaduct were also stunning and well worth the time. Long day, but we would highly recommend. Our Tour guide, Nikolas, was knowledgeable, personable, and very informative.
Wonderful small group experience. The owners are the tour guides so they really care that you get a great experience. Arles was so interesting and the restaurant recommendation from our guide was terrific. There was plentyof time to exploreat each stop. I highly recommended this tour.
Interesting and fun day! Enjoyed the background and education during the rides, and the free time to explore the sites. Veronica provides lots of interesting details and pointed us to many sites. Variety of locations - scenic towns, larger cities, and of course the asylum and its surroundings.
Veronica was an excellent guide and we had the perfect day for a tour around some of the outside locales near Avignon. Everything ran smoothly and we met some great people and really enjoyed day. Highly recommended
We have just come back from the South of France where one of the standout experiences was the day tour with Provans. Nicholas was a great guide, providing us with just the right amount of information. He was knowledgeable and yet not overly chatty. We were only two people on the trip (lucky us) so he helped tailor the day's experiences to suit us (and the weather). We had enough time to see the Carrières et Lumiere at Les Baux and a little less time in the deluge at Arles. He saved us by finding some umbrellas and gave us good directions on where to find a place good to eat. The Yellow Tour is an excellent way to see a lot of important sites around Avignon without being overly programmed. I would definitely take another of Provan's tours and would highly recommend them.
Wonderful tour with well curated selection of sites and excellent commentary by Veronica. There is not too much driving, and enough time at each location to get a good grasp of the site. Comfortable van. I highly recommend for a good sense of Provence in a one day tour.
The itinerary for this excursion was well planned and perfectly executed. Our guide, Veronica, was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. We enjoyed all of our stops and never felt rushed or that we spent too much time at any location. It was an enjoyable day!!! We saw Van Gogh sites and historic sites dating back to the Romans. The Pont du Gard is a must experience. Veronica helped us understand how the bridge was built and how it has changed. If I had more time, I would sign up for another tour with Veronica. I can’t recommend this excursion enough.
