Valencia Food & Tapas Tour with a Local

Itinerary

Pass by

In a 3-hour-long walking food tour you will dive into a world of culinary experiences! You will try only the best tapas in some selected bars and eateries of Valencia old town, also known as Ciutat Vella. Sipping a glass of wine or beer you will be able to feel this unique lifestyle, based on hard work but also moments of pleasure, social life and relax. We will walk through the beautiful streets of the town, passing by the most famous monuments, while our local expert will give an insight into the history and culture. All the food and drinks are included as described, but the tastings can slightly change due to the season and the availability of our partners.

30 min

You will start your culinary adventure in Plaça del Comte de Bunyol, a hidden gem surrounded by beautiful architecture that invites both visitors and locals to dive in the atmosphere of the city. Here you will meet your local expert to head to the first stop! Have a taste of esgarraet (from the Valencian esgarradet). It's another typical dish of the Valencian Community. It consists of a special salad made with roasted red bell pepper, salted cod, garlic, and extra virgin olive oil. Otherwise, try a delicious pintxo of sardines. The perfect appetizer to start with.

30 min

Situated between the Barrio del Carmen and Plaza de la Virgen, Plaça del Tossal is another must-visit while in Valencia. Here you can see the Arabic influences that shaped Spanish history, such as the ruins of a Muslim tower or the city remparts from XII century. In a tapas bar nearby, you will have the chance to try a selection of local tapas, like Clóchinas, the small, thin Valencian sisters of mussels. This is the most beloved shellfish in the Valencian Community. Otherwise, indulge in a slice of potato tortilla or patatas bravas, Spain’s ultimate comfort food.

30 min

Valencia’s Central Market is a paradise you can’t miss. It is a must-visit in this city, a gigantic pantry of modernist architecture. Here you’ll taste typical products from the market, like fish, cheese or ham and see how this place contains fresh produce from the garden and the flavors and smells of the Mediterranean inside (lunch only).

30 min

Plaza Redonda - literally "Round Square" - is probably one of the smallest, yet most charming squares in Valencia. The square was built in XIX century by Salvador Escrig Melchor and conceived as a circular pen. Nowadays, it's also known as "el clot" (the hole), and here locals go shopping in the several shops or at the small market that takes place every Sunday morning. And it's right near this symbol of the city that you will find your next stop, where you will get the chance to try different types of local pintxos, of course served with a glass of refreshing beer!

30 min

You will finish your food journey in one of the most famous squares in town, Plaça de la Reina, with its stunning architecture and its view on the Cathedral. In fact, in a bar right behind the square, you will taste the most typical sweet treat of the city: horchata and fartons. An authentic refreshing drink typical in the Valencian Community where you dip its perfect accompaniment, are an elongated, soft and absorbent sweet (lunch only). In the evening, you can try a refreshing glass of another Valencia classic: Agua de Valencia!

Valencia Food Tour

Great food tour! Anais showed us plenty of memorable places to eat and try foods that I wouldn’t normally have on my own. My husband got sick that day but Anais was very sweet and welcoming that I enjoyed my time after all. Would definitely recommend!

Sensational evening

I had read all the 5 star TA reviews and particularly how good the host, Anais, is and we were sold. The night was so much better than what we were expecting. We met Anais and discovered we were having our own personal tour. We spent over 3 hours in Anais’s company and she was brilliant! All the establishments we visited, sampling amazing tapas with a glass of beer or wine was just perfect. We learnt so much about the city and food and had so much fun. We cannot recommend this tour enough!

Awesome!!!

Anais our guide was as Awesome. We went to four great places. The night ended with Valencia, which was delicious. In our first spot, we tried pinchots, which is little different foods on bread. Our second spot was my favorite tapas place. It was very local. We had fried sardines and fried peppers and mushroom mushrooms.. absolutely delicious. The wine was amazing. So I bought two bottles to take home.. our third spot was also awesome. It was really a great way to spend 3 1/2 hours learning about the history of Food of Valencia.

Fun Saturday Night in Valencia: Great food, drinks and conversation!

The Valencia Food Tour was such fun! Anaïs was a great guide - full of facts about the neighborhood, various historical sites, and the restaurants we stopped at. There were 4 stops, and we were almost 4 hours with our group of about 10 people. Trying various kinds of tapas and various drinks was a great introduction to Valencia and local cuisine. Lots of fun conversation with new friends. The Agua de Valencia cocktail was the perfect end to the night! Highly recommend Anais as a guide!
